Description
We are in search of an Assistant Controller to augment our team in Newark, California. The individual will play a crucial role in managing our accounting software systems, ensuring the efficiency of our financial services, and maintaining compliance with DCAA requirements. This role provides an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where precision and attention to detail are paramount.
• Prepare, review, and lead financial statements regularly.
• Prepare detailed reports for investors regarding company's financial status.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and internal policies.
• Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits.
• Oversee daily accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
• Monitor and reconcile bank accounts and manage cash flow forecasting.
• Manage fixed assets and oversee depreciation schedules.
• Analyze financial data to ensure accuracy.
• Support development and maintenance of cost accounting systems.
• Ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of inventory.
• Identify and implement ways to enhance efficiency in financial operations.
• Implement and maintain internal controls.
• Assist in implementing new or enhanced ERP systems.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to accounting staff, and manage 1-2 accountants.
• Report directly to the VP of Finance, and assist with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
• Assist in recruiting, training, and developing the finance team.
Requirements
Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar discipline. CPA preferred.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Advanced knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
Proficient in accounting software (preferably Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines, setting priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
