Dobson Fiber Equipment Operator in Newalla, Oklahoma
The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating specialized machinery used in the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications infrastructure. This role involves working with heavy equipment such as trenchers, backhoes, directional drills, and cable plows to lay underground cables, conduits, and other essential telecom materials. The ideal candidate will have experience operating various types of heavy equipment, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively on diverse job sites. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Safely and efficiently operate telecommunications equipment, including trenchers, plows, backhoes, and drills, for the installation and maintenance of telecom infrastructure. Conduct daily equipment inspections to ensure machinery is in proper working order. Report any issues or maintenance needs to the supervisor. Assist in preparing job sites by positioning equipment, marking work areas, and following all safety protocols. Ensure proper setup and secure equipment before use. Perform trenching, drilling, and excavation as required for cable installation, adhering to specified depth, width, and location for safe placement of telecommunications infrastructure. Support in the installation of telecom cables, conduits, and ducts as necessary. Coordinate with crew members to ensure materials are placed accurately and efficiently. Follow all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and industry standards to maintain a safe work environment. Identify potential safety hazards and take action to mitigate risks. Complete daily reports on work completed, equipment usage, and any incidents or malfunctions. Maintain logs on project timelines and completed tasks. Perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment as needed to ensure consistent operation. Troubleshoot and report equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime. Ability to listen and implement directions Candidates must pass pre-employment testing (MVR, drug screen and background check) Must have basic computer skills in order to develop and maintain bore logs Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment Must be able to climb up and down ladders, scaffoldings and lifts Ability to work in all weather conditions; this includes extreme temperatures At times you may be required to work in trenches, manholes, tunnels, closets and crawl spaces Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs. from floor and above head Have knowledge and ability to identify and use basic hand tools Must be willing to travel
