Mizuho Corporate Bank Investment & Corporate Banking: Japan – Americas Cross-Border M&A Team, Analyst in New York, United States

The Cross-Border M&A Team offers strategic advisory services to US and Japanese multinational corporations and financial institutions. We support clients with advisory services in cross-border mergers and acquisitions transactions, financial structuring and corporate strategy. The Cross-Border M&A team has maintained a healthy pipeline of transactions in recent years and is looking to expand its headcount.

Job Summary:

The Cross-Border M&A team is seeking an exceptional Analyst to assist in advising clients on the execution and origination of Japan-Americas cross-border transactions.

Analysts are given unparalleled exposure to the transaction execution process and access to top management teams at leading multinational clients. They will also have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and are entrusted with a broad range of meaningful responsibilities, including:

  • Contributing to key workstreams throughout the M&A transaction execution process while being responsible for several projects concurrently

  • Working effectively with senior bankers to provide client relationship support both in the Americas and Japan

  • Developing detailed analyses and financial models used for valuation purposes

  • Preparing confidential information memoranda, management presentations and board presentations

  • Developing various industry analyses, including market trends, key growth drivers and industry dynamics

  • Leading due diligence processes and coordinating related workstreams with the client and other advisors

  • Actively participating in the negotiations of legal documentation

  • Creating pitch books and related client materials for origination efforts

  • Preparing detailed company profiles and analysis, compiling and maintaining databases

  • Other duties, responsibilities and authority to be determined

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess or demonstrate the following personal and professional attributes:

  • Bachelors' degree, with coursework in Accounting and Corporate Finance

  • Prior experience in investment banking, accounting, corporate finance, M&A legal or a similar role is preferred

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate concepts and ideas concisely to defend validity

  • Aptitude to synthesize distinct information and develop novel ideas

  • Financial modeling/valuation training and experience is preferred

  • Ability to comfortably and confidently interact with clients in a professional manner

  • Outstanding ethics, integrity, and judgment

  • Comfort in and commitment to strong teamwork

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and proactive

  • Series 63 and 79 required

The expected base salary ranges from $110K - $130k. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
