Mizuho Corporate Bank Corporate Tax Compliance Associate/AVP in New York, United States

Position Overview: The Corporate Tax Compliance Associate/AVP will support the Director of Compliance in managing the company’s tax compliance, provision, research, and audit functions. This role specifically focuses on ensuring the accurate calculation and reporting of tax provisions (ASC 740) and effectively managing the tax compliance process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tax Provision (ASC 740):

  • Prepare and calculate quarterly and annual tax provisions under ASC 740, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP.

  • Reconcile tax accounts and maintain accurate records of deferred tax assets and liabilities.

  • Assist in preparing financial statement disclosures, including tax footnotes and effective tax rate reconciliations.

  • Tax Compliance:

  • Prepare Federal, State & Local tax returns, including quarterly estimated payments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness for separate, consolidated, unitary, and worldwide tax filings.

  • Research and analyze tax positions to ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.

  • Prepare documentation to support tax positions and communicate findings to management.

  • Tax Audits & Queries:

  • Assist in managing tax audits and responding to inquiries from Tax Authorities.

  • Coordinate with external CPA firms during tax reviews and audits to ensure all documentation and information is accurate and complete.

  • Intercompany Transactions:

  • Calculate and process intercompany tax sharing payments, ensuring compliance with internal policies and relevant tax laws.

  • Information Reporting & Withholding Taxes:

  • Assist in the preparation and submission of information reporting and withholding tax filings, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Reporting & Documentation:

  • Prepare comprehensive tax reports for management and Head Office.

  • Organize and maintain permanent tax files, ensuring all records are up-to-date and easily accessible.

Requirements:

  • Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • CPA certification preferred.

  • Experience:

  • Minimum 3-7 years of experience in Corporate Tax with a strong focus on ASC 740 tax provision and compliance.

  • Proven track record in preparing financial statements, tax footnotes, and effective tax rate reconciliations.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in tax preparation software, preferably Onesource.

  • Strong knowledge of Word, Excel, and Tax Research tools.

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax issues to non-tax professionals.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong organizational skills with a meticulous attention to detail.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external auditors.

The expected base salary ranges from $75,000.00 - $120,000.00. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
