We are seeking a proactive Workforce Planning Manager to join our vibrant offices in either North Vancouver or New York City. In this role, you'll be at the forefront of aligning our team's skills with current and future project needs. You will excel at identifying and mobilizing internal talent to meet project demands while also spearheading temporary external recruitment campaigns for new initiatives.

In this role as a Workforce Planning Manager, you will be responsible for planning and maintaining resource requirements for projects and business units, ensuring the efficient use of resources. This role supports the Heads of Engineering in Canada and the USA, enhances cross-border collaboration, and promotes continuous improvement in resource management processes. Additionally, it requires a deep understanding of the complexities of a civil engineering consulting business and the ability to achieve billability targets.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Plans short, medium, and long-term resource needs, embedding systems, tools, and processes to improve efficiency. This role captures and manages staff availability, ensuring qualified staff are placed in suitable roles.
  • Manage consistent mobilization and demobilization strategies, providing relevant data to make decisions.
  • Engage with international teams to address skills gaps and ensure better visibility of current needs and staff availability.
  • Develop a system for accurate forecasting of resource allocations, documenting the progress of filling vacancies and identifying crucial needs A key aspect of the role involves proactively identifying redeployment opportunities and providing weekly reports on capacity and resource supply/demand. This includes highlighting specific gaps in capabilities and maintaining accurate, up-to-date data on resource availability and project requirements.
  • Optimizes resource utilization through coordination with other managers and the Engineering Design Center (EDC).
  • Ensure that governance is maintained across all projects.

On top of that, you will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field. Ideal candidate has 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and international stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills and experience.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and innovative mindset.
  • Advanced organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven experience in resource planning and management, preferably within an engineering or project-based environment.
  • Solid grasp of resource management frameworks and procedural operations.
  • Expert in Excel and knowledgeable in Power BI.

Base compensation: $106,000 to $146,000 for North Vancouver location only. $95,000 to $130,000 for New York City location only. Actual compensation is subject to variations due to education, experience, and skill set.
