Position Summary
The Technician B will work closely with the Pl and research team in the Basic Science Research Group in the Division of Other Research at Department of Surgery at Columbia University. The Technician B will perform multiple assignments under direct supervision.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliant, accurate, and timely patient payments
- Process and track patient payments using all methods on the Human Subject Study Payment Matrix: Payment Works, Paycards, Trucentive, Single-Pay Voucher, Check; and sponsor-provided financial tools
- Assist study subjects and Coordinators with patient payment submissions
- Assist study subjects and Coordinators with patient travel arrangements and reimbursements
- Review and interpret study budgets to assure consistent w billing and patient payments
- Create and update study activity trackers
- Research and respond to CTO queries re billable study activity
- Assist in the invoicing of sponsors or other departments
- Collaborate with managers, coordinators, assistants, and technicians in multiple therapeutic areas to ensure proper invoicing or subject activity
- Instruct Coordinators and other staff re patient stipends and reimbursements, travel accommodations, and study activity tracking for finance
- Supervise and instruct assistant staff on clerical tasks related to finance matters
- Order medical and stationary supplies on CU Marketplace
- Recording and/or entering data for studies
- Communicating with, scheduling, and meeting with patients for research visits
- Handling or processing human specimens
- Extracting data from the electronic medical record
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or physics or a completed animal husbandry program or equivalent in education and training.
- One year of related experience, or equivalent in education and training.
- Knowledge of related laboratory procedures and techniques
- Excellent organization skills
