POSITION DETAILS
The Office of Internal Audit and Management Services assists the University through the performance of compliance and quality assurance appraisals towards ensuring that the University’s resources are safeguarded against loss due to waste, fraud, or abuse. Additionally, the office ensures the University’s compliance with applicable laws and regulations, coordinates and prepares responses to Federal, State and City audits of programs administered by the University and its institutions, participates in special investigations of alleged irregularities or improper practices, and assists in any subsequent adjudication. The Office of Internal Audit and Management Services reports to the Office of VC for Risk, Audit and Compliance.
Reporting to the Senior Internal Auditor for Finance and Operations, the Staff Internal Auditor conducts various analysis techniques to execute the Unit’s audit plan objectives, and supports the internal audit function by performing financial, operational, management, and compliance audits of the University’s programs and activities including IT systems and contract compliance, Federal and State financial aid, budget, procurement, inventory, accounts receivable, cash, treasury and general ledger areas.
From general duties listed above, other duties include but not limited to the following:
Examines fiscal records, books of account, and related records to assess compliance of accounting methods, recording maintenance, operating procedures, and controls within prescribed fiscal accountability guidelines.
Prepares detailed audit and sampling plans including work papers; performs process workflow reviews and conducts regular and annual internal control assessments as well as entrance and exit conferences.
Assists in investigations of alleged waste, fraud, or abuse.
Participates in organizing and conducting University-wide education and training sessions to ensure employee awareness and understanding of internal control policies and procedures.
Interacts with external auditors, administrators, faculty, staff and law enforcement officials as appropriate.
Note :
Until further notice, this position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree and four years’ related experience required.
Preferred:
Advanced degree or certification (CPA, CISA, CIA, MBA, MS, MA) in a relevant discipline
Four years’ internal or external auditing experience in large complex organizations
Intermediate to advanced computer proficiency using financial and administrative programs, systems or databases, with broad IT hardware and software platform knowledge
Knowledge of CUNY college’ operations and procedures
Proactive, flexible and diplomatic with the ability to successfully navigate ambiguous situations, complex political and organizational landscapes and University frameworks
Effective organizational skills with the ability to set plans, manage a varied workload with conflicting priorities in a dynamic office
Detail oriented and accurate with sound judgement, critical analysis, and decision-making skills
Effective interpersonal, written, oral communication and presentation skills
Commitment to workplace diversity, accountability, transparency, integrity and service excellence
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Coordinates financial matters related to finance and accounting systems on a University-wide basis.
Working with systems personnel, management, and college personnel, assists with evaluating and documenting business requirements for financial systems
Monitors and maintains financial systems' business processes, activities, and reporting
Maintains mapping and coding of entities in financial systems, assuring consistency between systems, programs, and modules
Develops and analyzes reports to reconcile General Ledger, Financial Aid, Student Financial, and other systems
Audits data and system processes; reports inconsistencies and develops appropriate responses
Keeps management apprised of systems developments and issues
Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary range is $68,004 - $75,465 commensurate with commensurate with credentials, education, and experience.
