We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant in the non-profit industry, based in New York, New York. The role involves ensuring the accurate and timely recording of all transactions, maintaining financial system integrity, and ensuring compliance with company policies and GAAP. The successful candidate will work in the office for three days a week, and we are currently seeking locally based candidates only.

Responsibilities:

• Assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions, closing the books monthly, and providing financial reporting.

• Maintain financial system integrity, internal controls, and compliance.

• Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with company policies and GAAP.

• Prepare monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and other documents to ensure compliance.

• Conduct a monthly review of the Trial Balance with corresponding analyses for each account.

• Monitor revenue and expenses to ensure Grant compliance.

• Prepare audit schedules and assist external auditors in the preparation of annual charitable returns.

• Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.

• Utilize skills in Month End Close, Financial Statement Preparation, Grant Accounting, and Financial Edge.

Requirements

• Accounting/Finance degree

• 5+ years non profit accounting or audit experience

• Relevant experience can come from another non profit organization or an accounting firm
