Senior Tunnel Engineering Project Manager

In this position, you will join our global team of specialists and work directly with clients to ensure satisfaction and be responsible for making key technical decisions in collaboration with senior design staff. You will lead large multidisciplinary projects with external partners for the bridge and tunnel engineering sector, liaising with clients, technical managers, financial staff, and other departments to manage overall project deliverables, schedules, and budgets.

The position will require both your strong Project Management skills and your strong Technical skills and will provide you with opportunities to grow and develop your leadership skills.

Your position will be based in either COWI's New York, NY or Tysons Corner, VA office.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Collaborate closely with COWI staff and Clients.
  • Act as the coordinating professional to direct COWI's work in various tunnel disciplines along with being responsible for accurate forecasting, resource allocation, scheduling, and budgeting for assigned project(s)
  • Lead in enhancing COWI's engineering, quality management, project management, commercial and risk management, and safety practices.
  • Contribute expertise in assigned projects, ensuring adherence to quality systems and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead the development and implementation of project management best practices, action plans, and strategic initiatives assigned by senior management. This includes writing proposals, managing budgets, and participating in business development opportunities.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, feedback, and mentoring to project staff, collaborate with the Business Development team to identify new projects and growth opportunities, and build strategic customer relations to identify large business potential within involved projects.
  • Exhibit exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey complex engineering concepts to a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a strong technical background and in-depth knowledge of tunnel engineering principles and practices. Possesses experience in designing and overseeing the construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation of tunnels and underground structures.

On top of that, you will:

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree or higher in Structural or Geotechnical Engineering along with a PE status in New York (or be eligible to obtain it). Engineering licenses in other US states or Canadian Provinces are considered an asset.
  • Have 10-15 years of previous related engineering, project management, and business development experience with an emphasis on design, construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation of transportation infrastructure.
  • PM training and a PMP Certification are considered an asset.
  • Demonstrate experience working with clients, particularly government organizations.
  • Exhibit a proven ability to prepare proposals and review agreement terms.
  • Be able to work with staff located remotely around the world.

Base compensation: $124,000 to $174,000 for New York location only. Actual compensation is subject to variations due to education, experience, skill set and/or location.
