Amazon Senior Strategic Supply Chain Manager, US Consumables in New York, New York

Amazon's US Consumables team is seeking an experienced supply chain professional to lead supply chain for the Grocery category. Our mission is to serve and delight Grocery customers by having the right product quantities, in the right place, at the right time. The Grocery supply chain team focuses on end-to-end supply chain management for the category, including managing operations relationships with Vendors, ensuring inventory health, and collaborating with Vendors and internal stakeholders on strategic initiatives to improve supply chain efficiency, to provide products to customers with best-in-class speed, and to reduce costs and waste.

This leader owns team-wide initiatives and business plans, oversees a team of supply chain and inventory management professionals, and coordinates with cross-functional stakeholders such as Vendor management, customer success, product management, and finance.

A successful candidate will be a strong communicator across teams and Vendors, with executive leadership, and with direct reports. They will be able to balance the day-to-day requirements of the role while also driving improvements to key metrics such as in-stock rates, confirmation rates, and lead times. They will develop effective and collaborative relationships with external Vendors and internal partner teams while simultaneously holding a high bar for supply chain performance in order to deliver the best experience for Amazon customers. Flexibility and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment will be crucial. The individual in this role will look to continuously elevate their team members' performance and foster a strong and supportive team environment.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead a team of supply chain managers focused on Vendor relationships and category-wide initiatives, such as direct import efficiency

  • Plan and execute inventory strategies to optimize sales, in-stock rates, turns, and inventory health for owned category

  • Set goals for supply chain KPIs and monitor/report on progress; for example, in-stock rate, lead time, confirmation rate, fill rate, and ship costs

  • Participate in business reviews with your Vendors; identify operational improvement areas and recommend and oversee efforts to improve supply chain efficiency

  • Communicate category supply chain strategy and KPI results to retail leadership

  • Drive root cause analysis/reporting on operational issues, develop action plans, and project manage improvements with the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously

  • Work with internal teams to drive process improvements that affect purchasing and procurement workflows

  • Consistently raise the bar on team effectiveness by leading trainings, coaching team members, and setting team goals and expectations

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or 5+ years of professional or military experience

  • Experience working with complex data sets

  • Experience communicating results to senior leadership

  • Strong proficiency in data and analysis tools including Microsoft Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of statistics or other analytical techniques

  • Experience with SQL

  • MBA, or advanced degrees in Operations Management or related field

  • Ability to problem solve creatively by adapting frameworks or existing best practices

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $109,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
