Position Summary
The Proteomics Shared Resource at Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center, Columbia University Medical Center, New York is seeking a full-time technician, who will be involved in the discovery and targeted proteomic analysis to support the multidisciplinary investigators at CUMC.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of samples from cells, tissues, and biofluids for proteomics workflow including protein isolation, digestion, TMT tagging, and peptide clean-up.
- Operating and maintaining multiple mass spectrometers.
- Troubleshooting state-of-the-art Orbitrap Fusion, TimsTOF Pro mass spectrometers, and Dionex nanoLC systems.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree and at least three years experience, or Bachelor's degree and at least five years of related experience or equivalent in education, training, and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS in proteomics sample preparation for mass spectrometry are a plus, but not required.
Other Requirements
- Experience in conducting method development for HPLC and/or mass spectrometry.
- Experience in cell culture to grow various cell lines for proteomics method developments.
- Knowledge of mass spectrometry database search algorithms.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Detailed oriented, organized, able to work independently, and curious to learn new techniques.
