Position Summary

Working as part of a tight-knit team, you will support attorneys and legal assistants in the Americas by providing in-depth expertise in docketing, calendaring, court rules, procedures, legal proceedings, case activity and electronic court filings.

Although primarily focused on day-to-day operational matters, you will also work on a wide range of projects. You can anticipate unforeseen challenges and will be both resilient and pragmatic in your approach to managing change.

Through extensive contact with lawyers and business services leaders, we are trusted to offer advice and implement changes that help our teams perform at the highest level and deliver outstanding client service.

Duties and Accountabilities1

  • Perform legal docketing via docketing software to generate calendars from court documents, correspondence, rules and statutes.
  • Research and learn deadlines not contained in docketing software's automated calculations.
  • Provide general and/or specialized docket reports upon request.
  • Assist with the quality control of docket and calendar entries.
  • Assist with and handle electronic case filings via CM/ECF, NYSCEF, and other state court filing platforms (including but not limited to DC, IL, FL, TX, and CA).
  • Review documents for service and filing to ensure basic compliance with court rules and procedures.
  • Provide guidance on court practices and procedures, procedural rules and judge's preferences.
  • Coordinate and manage service of process requests, including engaging process servers, making recommendations to the team.
  • Conduct searches and extract information from court-related databases, websites, and firm's docketing system.
  • Collect, maintain, and update attorney information, such as admission information and login credentials.
  • Coordinate retrieval of court documents with internal research team and external vendors.
  • Monitor court rules and procedures for updates and changes.
  • Learn and demonstrate mastery of court rules and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments for cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Assist with department projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years experience working in a Managing Attorney/Clerk's office at a large law firm.
  • Familiar with CompuLaw, CourtAlert, Bloomberg Law, and ECFx.
  • Ability to handle, prioritize, and complete assignments with competing deadlines.
  • Must deliver high quality work product and independently follow up and follow through.
  • Possess general knowledge of court procedures in New York state and federal courts.
  • Highly detail-oriented and accurate.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and organized.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and positive-minded.
  • Able to interact effectively and professionally with lawyers, support staff and court personnel.
  • Licensed Notary Public preferred

    • Working shift hours are depending on location, 4pm - 12am EST/4pm - 12am PST
    • This role reports to the Managing Clerk and Managing Attorney

    Salary range for New York market: 73,600 - 110,000 US Dollars (USD) Yearly
    Salary range for Silicon Valley market: 77,300 - 115,600 US Dollar (USD) Yearly
    Salary range in other markets will vary
