City of New York Senior Case Analyst in New York, New York

Job Description

THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY BETWEEN $93,631-$103,631.

The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services, and provides subsidized child care vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement and programs for youth in the community.

The Accountability and Audit Unit is responsible for auditing the Division of Child Protection staff to assess for potential willful misconduct or other special circumstances. This unit sits within the Office of Agency Accountability, which is a program area with the Office of the Commissioner.

The Senior Case Analyst will report directly to the Director and their responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Draft reports and memos, including but not limited to, Safety Alerts and Employee Alerts, in a narrative form. Additionally, exercise judgment when reviewing Connections to determine and identify notations of potential willful misconduct. Draft other correspondence, using standard formats and summarizing data, in order to communicate findings and information needed and/or requested.

  • Review policy and procedures by gathering information from case reviews, Federal, State, and Local mandates, regulations and ACS policies within a prescribed time frame. Additionally conduct background research by reviewing previous policies and procedures in order to standardize work activities in conformance with laws, regulations, and existing policies.

  • Prepare summaries, including but not limited to, the Summary of Findings and Case Practice Assessments by reviewing Connections and other systems in order to provide internal and external stakeholders with information in a usable form.

  • Collect and analyze available statistical and/or other quantitative data in order to support the production of summaries appropriate for agency decision-making.

  • Support the ongoing development of staff through coaching, leading group discussions, and facilitating inter-rater reliability exercises.

  • Work and collaborate with program leadership to coordinate strategic action plans, creation of tools and processes connected to the unit’s work.

  • Partner closely with divisions and program areas to provide crucial support in order to ensure the fulfillment of the agency’s mission.

Qualifications

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of full-time, satisfactory professional social services or related experience in organizations dealing directly with children and/or adolescents; such as (but not limited to) child welfare agencies, Day-Care, educational institutions, mental health groups, pediatrics, juvenile justice. At least eighteen months of the required experience must be in a supervisor, administrative, managerial or executive capacity.

  2. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above. However, all candidates must have at least eighteen months of experience in a supervisory, administrative, managerial, or executive capacity. A Master's degree in Social Work may be substituted for one year of the required general experience.
