Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. Section Manager - Manhattan Electric Ops - Environmental Operations in New York, New York

Overview

The Section Manager plans, directs, controls and manages the safe, timely and efficient environmental clean-ups, maintenance and removal of debris from all company sub-surface structures and operation and maintenance of treatment and transfer facilities including cleaning, removal, storage, transport and disposal in accordance with Company operating procedure, governmental laws, rules, procedures and specifications.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Plans, directs and manages all environmental cleanup and maintenance on all underground structures.
  • Plans, directs and manages priorities and assignment of human resources to efficiently schedule environment cleanups and maintenance of underground structures.
  • Manages the 28th Street environmental facility and oversee compliance to all environmental regulations.
  • Performs contractor oversight responsibilities associated with all service contracts for Manhattan.
  • Ensures compliance with operating, housekeeping and safety procedures which will provide for employee safety and welfare.
  • Enhances the Company's image by effectively directing the performance of the organization's field forces.
  • Directs and enforces the administration of the provisions of the collective bargaining contract and conducts union negotiations at the local level.
  • Provides a positive employee relations atmosphere through the proper and effective administration of the Company's personnel policies, procedures and practices including but not limited to training, motivation, counseling, performance appraisal, discipline and security.
  • Complies with the Company's Equal Employment Opportunity policies and instructions.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 8 years related work experience
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, EH&S or Project Management
  • Minimum 8 years in the maintenance and repair of the electrical distribution system
  • Master's Degree in Engineering, EH&S or Project Management Minimum 6 years in the maintenance and repair of the electrical distribution system
Relevant Work Experience
  • 3- 5 years of supervisory experience. Required
  • Knowledge of EH&S procedure. Required
  • Ability to understand and interpret field constructed drawings and layouts. Required
  • Proven leadership skills to motivate people. Required
  • Innovative and able to adapt to change. Required
  • Must be well organized and detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple assignments. Required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills. Required
  • Knowledge of computer systems, including Microsoft programs. Required
  • Field experience and knowledge of electric distribution system, Electric Operation, Construction and underground structures maintenance is preferred. Preferred
  • 3-5 years related technical work experience in Electric Distribution System. Preferred
Licenses And Certfications
  • Driver's License Required
Additional Physical Demands
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
  • Must be available to respond to emergency conditions when called, be available 24 hours per day, seven days a week, and willing to work a flexible schedule.

Minimum Salary: 140000.00 Maximum Salary: 190000.00 Salary Unit: Yearly
