We are investing millions of dollars annually to provide customers with the tools to better manage their energy use, scale the adoption of energy efficiency and clean heating technologies while targeting customers in disadvantaged communities, and minimizing infrastructure investment with clean energy solutions whenever possible.The Customer Energy Services department is seeking a creative and analytical strategic leader with strong experience in the clean energy transition. The Section Manager, Energy Efficiency, oversees the Company's demand-side management (DSM) initiatives to help ensure system reliability, including design, operations, administration, budgetary, marketing, performance and analysis, reporting, process improvement, customer and stakeholder engagement, and the team responsible for implementing these initiatives.The successful candidate will lead a team of experienced DSM professionals that will further the Company's clean energy transition, support Climate Leadership & Community Protection Act (CLCPA) legislation, and implement programs that are designed to achieve the Company's clean energy goals and comply with all regulatory mandates. The Section Manager fosters a culture of high-performance, professional development, inclusiveness and teamwork that values creativity, critical thinking and encourages leadership. The Section Manager partners with Company leadership and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of business objectives, represents the Company's interest to stakeholders and participates in industry organizations to keep informed of best practices and trends.More specifically, the Section Manager, Energy Efficiency, for Portfolio Planning and Strategy will oversee all major financial functions within the Customer Energy Services department including contracting for external vendors, benefit-cost analysis of new and existing efficiency programs and measures, payback analysis, program performance reporting, regulatory reporting and regulatory filings. The Section Manager will ensure that these functions are appropriately coordinated with internal and external stakeholders and regulatory agencies and will oversee business ethics and compliance for the CES department. This role will have substantial executive exposure and substantial cross-organization engagement.Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities- Oversee DSM initiatives to ensure system reliability, including design, operations, administration, budgetary, marketing, performance analysis, reporting, process improvement, customer and stakeholder engagement, and team management.
- Lead a team of DSM professionals to support the clean energy transition, CLCPA legislation, and regulatory compliance.
- Foster a culture of high performance, professional development, inclusiveness, teamwork, creativity, critical thinking, and leadership.
- Partner with Company leadership and stakeholders to align business objectives, represent Company interests, and stay informed of best practices and trends.
- Recruit, develop, and retain a diverse and engaged team, fostering an inclusive and high-performance work environment.
- Build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, including regulators, industry leaders, and public utilities.
- Oversee financial functions such as contracting, benefit-cost analysis, payback analysis, program design, performance reporting, regulatory reporting, and filings.
- Ensure business ethics and compliance, manage the annual certification process, and ensure adherence to work processes and procedures.
- Develop actionable multi-year business plans and strategies in energy efficiency, electrification, demand response, weatherization, and demand management.
- Quantify and assess new earnings opportunities, develop detailed analysis, and drive alignment across organizations and senior leadership.
- Interface with other departments and ConEdison to achieve shareholder incentives and Company goals.
- Provide analysis and support to represent Company interests to external stakeholders, oversee the analysis of energy measures and programs, and tackle new challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience- Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering, mathematics, energy-related discipline, economics and a minimum of 8 years relevant work experience or
- Master's Degree in business, engineering, mathematics, energy-related discipline, economics, MBA and a minimum of 6 years relevant work experience.
- Experience managing individuals and inter-disciplinary teams, Required.
- Expertise in clean energy transition (electrification, energy efficiency, demand response, distributed energy resources), Required.
- Technical knowledge of energy efficiency program design, implementation, and evaluation, Required.
- Success in leading business or corporate strategy development and strategic projects, Required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including technical writing and presentations, Required.
- Proven presentation skills for various audiences (customers, teams, executives, stakeholders), Required.
- Experience in vendor oversight (contract procurement, monitoring, performance assessment), Required.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, driving results through collaboration, Required.
- Flexibility in dealing with ambiguity and dynamic environments, Required.
- Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating DSM programs, Required.
- Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and benefit-cost analysis modeling, Required.
- Familiarity with New York States Reforming the Energy Vision and utility financial accounting, Required.
