New York University Researcher - CMEP, CEAP, WAW in New York, New York

Description:

Seeking a researcher to support multiple grant-funded programs, including the Center for Mind, Ethics, and Policy (CMEP), the Center for Environmental and Animal Protection (CEAP), and the Wild Animal Welfare Program (WAW). Weekly hours are flexible, though the weekly average is capped at 40.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the base salary for this position is $40,000 annually. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

Responsibilities:

Work primarily with Professor Jeff Sebo to advance the goals of CMEP, CEAP, and WAW, and potentially any additional programs or centers that may be directed by Professors Sebo or Franks in the future. This involves a wide range of activities, including:

  • Serving as an author on research projects (e.g. outlining and drafting main text), as needed

  • Serving as an editorial assistant on research projects (e.g. copywriting and copyediting), as needed

  • Serving as a research assistant on research projects (e.g. managing notes and references), as needed

  • Serving as a project manager on research projects (e.g. supervising authors), as needed

  • Preparing informational documents such as literature reviews and research agendas, as needed

  • Preparing annual reviews for our research centers (currently CEAP and CMEP)

Assisting with development (e.g. researching grant opportunities and drafting grant proposals)

  • Assisting with strategic planning (e.g. determining research, outreach, and field building priorities)

  • Assisting with operations (including hiring) and programming (including reimbursements)

  • Graduate degree in philosophy, science, policy, or a related area, OR at least 2 years of research experience in a related field

  • At least 2 years of experience managing research projects and direct reports
