Position Summary
The School of Nursing is looking to hire a Research Nurse (RN) to join the Center for Research on People of Color (CRPC) in a full-time position. The incumbent will work closely with the center's executive director and project director on an NIH-funded research study. This is a grant funded position and employment is contingent upon continued funding.
Responsibilities
- Enroll human subject participants into the study through the informed consent process.
- Utilize nursing licensure by completing patient evaluation and evaluate patient laboratory reports.
- Implement nurse-based plan of care in accordance with study protocol.
- Complete home-based assessment of patient's current health status, risk factors, and medications within 72 hours of discharge from hospital. With a focus on modifiable barriers to self- care, medication adherence, high risk behaviors, risk factor assessment including BP, weight, point-of-care A1c, health literacy, and review of neurological and primary care treatment goals and medications in accordance with the study protocol.
- Conduct follow-up telephone calls to assess barriers to self-management behaviors weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly based on patient's time on study and in accordance with the study protocol.
- Manage participant follow-up to ensure timely and complete data collection.
- Develops processes, procedures, tools, and training to enhance research activities.
- Oversee data entry and ensure quality assurance.
- Communicate clearly and routinely with MPIs and study team.
- Check-in and support community health worker's home care activities as needed in accordance with the study protocol.
- Manage coordination activities related to the project monitoring and evaluation.
- Attend study team meetings, including cross-disciplinary patient review meetings.
- Work collaboratively and manage relationships with clinical and community research partners, both within the organization and with external stakeholders
- Prepare and report on study data/findings to community partners and stakeholders.
- Position will require travel to participants homes.
- Perform additional related research duties and responsibilities as needed or assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and 4 years of relevant experience. A Master's degree will be considered in lieu of experience.
- Must have a NYS RN License and renew when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in home healthcare, community health, counseling, and supervision.
- Excellent communication, organizational and database management skills;
- Excellent quantitative and qualitative data analytic skills;
- Computer fluency in Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.
- Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision;
- Experience with vulnerable populations and certified training in HIPPA Compliance and Human Subjects protection is required.
