City of New York Project Development Coordinator for Queens in New York, New York

Job Description

NYC Parks is a design award-winning city agency that builds and cares for public spaces for New Yorkers to connect, play and enjoy. NYC Parks manages more than 30,000 acres or 14% of the city’s land, encompassing more than 5,000 individual properties. Major Responsibilities

  • Under general direction, with wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment, perform very responsible work in the planning, implementation, coordination and monitoring of complex work for the Commissioner and Chief of Staff.

  • Assist in coordinating travel arrangements and other logistics for key meetings and other activities in collaboration with executive office staff, the press office and agency photographers.

  • Assist in managing information flow to the Commissioner for timely response.

  • Assign and review briefing materials and reports for the Commissioner.

  • Under general supervision, with some latitude for independent initiative and judgment, perform difficult and responsible analytical and administrative work for Queens Operations.

  • Work closely with the Deputy Chiefs, Chief of Operations and Division Leaders.

  • Track sector performance in Parks Ratings, Operations Efficiency (Ops 21,) Forestry and Horticulture, Fleet and Litter management, Trades and Work Order Management, Special Projects, and New Initiatives, and / or other metrics using data from parks systems including AMPS and Daily Tasks and by maintaining bi-weekly tracking of data.

  • Create reports and present findings.

  • Work with field staff to improve the use of available data from Parks databases and to troubleshoot technical issues.

  • Conduct and/or manage special projects and assignments.

  • Serve as a liaison to other divisions within Parks and represent the Agency at meetings with other city agencies and organizations.

  • Assist with training initiatives, maintaining records and compiling reports.

Qualifications

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or

  2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or

  3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
