A Postdoctoral Research Scientist position is available in the Department of Biomedical Informatics (DBMI) at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center. We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join our team, focusing on cutting-edge research at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Ubiquitous Computing, and applied AI/ML, with a strong emphasis on health applications.
This position offers an exceptional opportunity to collaborate with leading medical experts and contribute unique insights from an HCI/AI perspective. Our lab is led by Dr. Xuhai "Orson" Xu (https://orsonxu.com), a new faculty member in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
The research projects will align with our mutual interests, exploring diverse topics, including but not limited to:
1. General Population / Patient-focused: Developing health prediction models, designing and evaluating well-being interventions, or enhancing human-AI interaction for health promotion.
2. Expert-focused: Advancing human-AI collaboration, creating clinical decision support tools, or improving clinical workflows with innovative HCI and AI methodologies.
Ph.D. and/or M.D.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Ph.D. background in computer science, information science, or health informatics.
* A solid publication record in top-tier HCI-related conferences (e.g., ACM CHI, IMWUT, CSCW, UIST)
Required Expetise:
- Rich experience in technical HCI or AI research.
- Good communication and writing skills.
