The Carroll Laboratories in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Columbia University seek talented postdoctoral scientists in spine and intervertebral disc research. The position will provide extensive scientific and professional career development in a collaborative environment, for a post-doctoral candidate interested in pursing a career in musculoskeletal research. The project focuses on inflammation in intervertebral disc degeneration.
Responsibilities:
- Expertise in animal models, cell biology, immunology, and/or biochemistry.
- Candidates should have a demonstrated record of academic and research achievement, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills to work with a multidisciplinary research team.
- Candidates should be highly motivated and independent, with expertise in musculoskeletal research, biology and/or immunology, in vivo experiments using mouse and/or rat models, in vitro cell and tissue culture models.
- Experience with collecting and analyzing transcriptomic (bulk sequencing, single cell sequencing) data sets is preferred.
- The candidate will be expected to lead cutting-edge research projects in the area of intervertebral disc degeneration and pain.
- M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent
