Details of Research Project : Our research utilizes animal models and a variety of biochemical, molecular, genetic, and genomic approaches. Specifically, we aim to define the mechanisms by which Eya-Six interacts with chromatin regulators and other transcription factors to control the development and maintenance of inner ear sensory organs. Additionally, we seek to understand how the dysregulation of these interactions leads to diseases.

Qualifications

Educational and other Requirements for the position: a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D.

Experience Required: Documented experience and training in genetics, developmental, cell, and molecular biology manipulations. Proficiency in techniques such as RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, CUT&Tag, or ChIP-seq is highly desirable.

Goals/Outcomes of the Research Project:

The primary goal of this study is to elucidate the regulatory mechanisms governing progenitor cell specification, differentiation, maintenance, regeneration, and dysfunction. By enhancing our understanding of these processes, we aim to uncover how epigenetic factors and gene interactions maintain the precise gene expression states that define neurosensory cellular identity at various stages in the inner ear. This knowledge is critical for preventing human pathologies and may eventually lead to the possibility of regenerating these cells to restore hearing loss.
