Part Time Lower School Aide
The Nightingale-Bamford School is seeking to hire 3 part-time school aides to provide classroom support and to help supervise Lower School students during morning drop-off, recess, classroom transitions, lunch and after school snack. Lower School aides will assist in all aspects of student supervision to promote health and safety as well as a supportive learning environment. The hours are either 7:30 AM to 1:20 PM or 10:00AM - 3:30 PM, 5 days per week during the days that school is in session. This position reports to the Associate Head of Lower School. This is an non-exempt hourly position that pays $20.00 per hour. This position does not include benefits.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):
Morning Supervision (7:30 - 8:30 AM)
Supervise students during early morning drop-off
Escort students to the classrooms at the start of the school day
Be available to help late arriving students to their classrooms
Monitor morning homeroom as needed
Lower School Recess (10:00 - 10:40 AM)
Supervise play on the roof playdeck and ensure safe behavior
Monitor students in the library
Lower School Lunch Assistance (11:40 AM - 1:20 PM)
Transition students to and from classrooms at the beginning and end of lunch
Serve family-style lunch to students at assigned tables
Be knowledgeable of dietary plans and restrictions for individual students
Monitor student behavior during lunch
Ensure students clean up after themselves and maintain a respectful lunchroom environment
Classroom Support and Hall Monitoring (8:30 AM - 3:00 PM)
Escort students to and from classes
Act as a support teacher for academic classes such as: computer science, health, community, dance, music, SING, art and science
As needed, monitor hallways during designated times
Afternoon Transition and Afterschool Program (3:00 - 3:30 PM)
Assist with transitioning students from classrooms to the afterschool program
Help distribute snacks and take attendance
Support students with either quiet play or in a study hall like environment
Other Responsibilities May Include
Chaperoning Lower School field trips
Work as assigned by the Associate Head of Lower School
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have prior experience or demonstrated interest in working with elementary school aged students in a school setting
Be eager to work with a close-knit team and adopt a collaborative spirit
Must be flexible and willing to change direction in a fast paced environment
Have strong communication skills and be willing to ask for help when needed
CPR and First Aid Certification required (can be provided by the school)
