We have a challenging opportunity for an Operations Supervisor to be based at our New York, NY location in the heart of the NY Diamond/Jewelry district.

Salary Range: $77k-$83k

Job Summary:The Operations Supervisor is responsible for providing management oversight and day to day leadership to our Dispatch/Sort and Window Teams, and Ground Courier Messengers and provide operational support at our 580 Fifth Avenue NYC location. This position must be able to work flexible hours and perform hands on freight forwarding responsibilities in addition to leading a team of logistics specialists. This position functions in an armed environment. This position requires the enforcement of rules to protect the premises and property of Brink's and its customers and in armored vehicles in transit, as well as the safety of persons on the premises of Brink's and its customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage the schedule, assignments, routing, and all day-to-day Ground Courier Messenger responsibilities at our 580 Fifth Ave Ops location. Includes managing the day-to-day team duties, route assignments, payroll, time off requests and all related personnel duties.

  • Ensure that all shipments are handled in an accurate and timely manner, making it to each destination as scheduled and that staff appropriately/properly bag, tag, sort and route shipments.

  • Work closely with JFK Operations, Imports and Exports to identify errors and resolve issues in time to make corrections.

  • Ensure that proper documentation is completed and accurately attached to shipments as required by each shipment/airline: MAWB, Label, KP, I.E., etc.

  • Ensure that all the shipments staying overnight have valid CONOS notes.

  • Manage team and ensure that all steps are taken to rectify issues with shipments where information is missing or requires sort inquiry to ensure the proper routing.

  • Ensure that all procedures, including dual verification of each shipment, in/out vaulting, Dolphin scanning have been followed by all crew members/sort personnel

  • Notify Branch manager of any issues regarding the handling, sorting or routing of shipments.

  • Implement, enforce, and monitor safety and security policies to ensure a safe and secure work environment.

  • Evaluate the suitability of crew members to perform their duties, including equipment, training, appearance, and effectiveness.

  • Perform monthly street inspections (at least 2 per route).

  • Maintain effective working relationships and effectively communicate on matters pertaining to operations.

  • Work closely with location leadership, sort staff, PM staff, Drivers and Messengers to ensure operational efficiencies.

  • Manage employee time and attendance as well as performance management and work with staff on their internal development.

  • Work closely as a collaborative partner with JFK Airport and other locations as well as develop/maintain key relationships with Sales, Customer Service, Show Division, Precious Metals and other key cross functional departments.

  • Obtain Gun Custodian License and perform Gun Custodian functions in full compliance with government regulations/Brinks policies.

  • Support routes/Window Team as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in freight forwarding/logistics in a high volume/secured environment in positions of increasing responsibility such as Sr. level Export/Import Coordination, Sr. Vault Clerk, Chief Cashier or other related operational positions

  • Minimum of 3 years working as Driver/Messenger/Dispatcher or similar related Operations position in an armed secured logistics environment

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including but not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint and where possible internal Brink’s proprietary/commercial business software packages (i.e. BITS, Garcia etc.)

  • Must be minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age

  • A current & valid driver’s license

  • A valid weapons permit or ability to pass applicable weapons licensing requirements

  • Ability to pass gun custodian license requirements

  • A valid guard card or ability to obtain a guard card or any other required licenses

  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds on a consistent regular basis

  • Must have flexibility in working a wide range of hours including weekends/holidays as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or other related field

  • Ability to recognize errors and potential problems and take appropriate measures to avoid service delays.

  • Possess organizational skills and the ability to multi-task

  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Experience servicing a diverse population

  • Knowledge of Customs Regulations

  • A current & valid class B driver’s license

  • Experience in the Air Transportation or Armored car industry
