The Operations Manager is a Business Unit (BU) based role, sitting in the Tax practice as a member of the Core Tax Operations team. The Core Tax Operations team is responsible for supporting the Tax practice's Federal, State, and International tax services. The Operations Manager should proactively seek out opportunities to improve processes, drive innovation, and add value to the organization. This position will collaborate closely with the Senior Director of Operations and will continue to evolve as the organization grows. This role ideally sits in Washington, DC but is open to locations where we have a presence for the right candidate. The ideal candidate will be looking for a challenging role in a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and high-growth environment and will have a sense of urgency in delivering top-quality work product, stellar attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to build and maintain relationships across all levels of seniority.
Responsibilities:
Practice Operations:
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of team skills and availability and identify any gaps or areas of improvement from headcount planning perspective.
- Coordinate with Technology team to manage software renewal contracts and required units with CCH Axcess, Sureprep, OIT, and Gosystems.
- Liaise with the Learning and Development team to implement on-demand and in-person training programs throughout the year.
- Curate monthly core newsletter content in Pardot to report Core highlights from various stakeholders.
- Lead coordination and content curation for monthly practice-wide all-hands meetings.
Onboarding and Offboarding:
- Periodically review the Core Tax onboarding process across all offices, including for interns, to ensure it remains effective and identify areas for improvement.
- Establish standard process for offboarding.
- Facilitate offboarding transitions including but not limited to project managers, clients, staffing resources, and shared files.
Business Development
- Work closely with the Business Development team to support the implementation of Core priorities and improve consistency in opportunity tracking and data capture for new engagements.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between team members, engagement managers, and clients.
- Collaborate with the campus recruiting team to deliver quality internship experiences to Core interns.
- Liaise with the Learning and Development team to implement training strategies for Core throughout the year.
- Keep the pulse of the team by staying closely connected with all team members across locations and career levels to proactively identify any innovation opportunities, retention risks, morale issues, etc.
- Work with practice professionals to ideate and foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork and high performance, as well as a culture of continuous feedback.
Special Projects:
- Identify and take ownership of ad-hoc projects that align with team goals and personal interests.
- Proactively seek out opportunities to improve processes, drive innovation, and add value to the organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute these projects and deliver impactful results.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
- 5 years of related professional experience in operations
- Experience in staffing management within a tax firm preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with resource planning and management tools and software is a plus
- Knowledge of tax operations and tax technology is desirable but not required
Full-time Positions and Part-time Positions Over 30 hours

Additionally, employees are eligible for paid time off including vacation, personal days, seventy-two (72) hours of sick time (prorated for part time employees), ten federal holidays, one floating holiday, and parental leave. The salary range is $95, 000 - $125, 000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A& M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance. Please ask your recruiter for details.
