Job Description: Onsite GIS Lead/SME for GIS application Support (ArcGIS & ArcFM) and development projects

Work Location: New York, NY (Hybrid: 2-3 days per week is mandatory at client office)

Position Overview:

The Onsite GIS Lead/ SME will be responsible for managing the GIS team at onsite /offshore and supporting the GIS needs of the client.

This includes managing GIS systems, overseeing application support, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective usage of ArcGIS, ArcFM. The ideal candidate has experience in GIS application management, technical support, and team leadership, with a strong understanding of GIS principles and GIS development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Must have experience on Utility domain, lead and execute big program in a multi-vendor environment focus on customer
  • Proficient in customer management skill with strong communication to demonstrate Utility Industry current trend, predominantly on GIS land scape
  • Single point of contact for Client for any GIS delivery activities
  • Develop project plans, Metrics, and execution plan for the customer
  • Review Test plan, Test results and able prepare test metrics to customer
  • Have strong knowledge Infrastructure and testing process for GIS projects
  • Co-ordinate with Offshore lead regular basis for the client needs
  • Ensure project milestones and deadlines are met, coordinating across departments and teams as necessary.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of GIS applications, including ArcGIS, ArcFM, webGIS and other GIS platforms.
  • Ensure the integrity, reliability, and performance of the GIS infrastructure.
  • Develop, implement, and document GIS policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Provide second level and third level support for GIS applications to resolve incidents and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Coordinate with application vendors for advanced troubleshooting and escalation of complex issues.
  • Collaborate with end-users and stakeholders to identify and implement enhancements or improvements to GIS applications.
  • Coordinate regular updates, patches, and upgrades on GIS software to ensure the system's security and functionality.
  • Conduct regular performance monitoring and optimization to maintain application efficiency.
  • Create and maintain documentation for GIS applications, processes, and workflows.
  • Conduct training sessions for users to improve their understanding and efficiency with GIS applications.
  • Develop user manuals and training guides for reference.
  • Work closely with business units, IT departments, and external vendors to understand and meet GIS requirements.
  • Communicate project updates, support activities, and system statuses to stakeholders regularly.
  • Provide strategic guidance on GIS capabilities and applications to support organizational goals.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 12+ years in GIS application management, with hands-on experience in ArcGIS and ArcFM.
  • Strong background in GIS application support and development and testing including troubleshooting and user support.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in ArcGIS, ArcFM, WebGIS and GIS data management.
  • Working experience for the GIS product and Environment management (release management, SDLC )
  • Knowledge of relational databases, Oracle, SQL, and data analysis.
  • Strong customer management
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Compensation: - This position are also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
