GrowNYC New York State Regional Food Hub Building Manager in New York, New York

New York State Regional Food Hub Building Manager (Full-time): Position SummaryWe are seeking a Building Manager to manage the New York State Regional Food Hub (NYSRFH), a state-of-the-art produce distribution warehouse in the Hunts Point section of the Bronx. The NSRFH houses both GrowNYC’s Food Hub and several tenants. The Building Manager will be responsible for the safe and professional operation, maintenance and supervision of the facility. RequirementsHub Building Manager Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):Management and MaintenanceProactively oversee a comprehensive planned maintenance program for the facility. Manage on-site vendors, contractors, and suppliers, including security, maintenance, and tenants.Conduct routine building inspections to ensure compliance, best practices, and alignment with city, state and federal regulations. Provide proactive support for GrowNYC’s programs and tenant operations.Develop, enforce, and monitor KPIs to achieve performance targets, mitigate risks, and support GrowNYC’s mission.Participate in meetings, walk-throughs, and presentations on department initiatives.Lead the hiring, firing, and mentoring of building service staff/vendors. Conduct weekly meetings, provide feedback, and facilitate training and development.Ensure the NYSRFH building is up to code and in compliance with DOB, FDNY, and DOH requirementsEnsure all annual municipal, state, and federal licensing and permitting is up to date Supervise building security contracts, snow removal and other day-to-day operations. Manage construction warranties, filings and government inspections. Manage overall building budget. Demonstrate the ability and willingness to perform building repair work as required.Planning Collaborate with the GrowNYC’s leadership and colleagues to support GrowNYC’s mission.Life safety systems oversight: develop emergency response protocols, , proactive planning, ensure systems in order Qualifications5+ years of strong facilities experience in a similar role. Relevant Trade School training/certificationsExperience operating a refrigerated warehouse preferred. Proven experience in supervising staff and managing operating budgets.Strong technical knowledge of HVAC and mechanical systems.Customer service-oriented approach, emphasizing responsiveness and satisfaction.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficient in vendor management, organized and thorough,.Able to effectively communicate with individuals with different backgrounds Able to maintain a calm demeanor and focus while addressing multiple, often competing prioritiesStrong Computer Skills including using spreadsheets and creating presentationsSelf-driven, independent self-starter with a commitment to excellence.Punctual and adaptable to varying schedules. Working on weekends when necessary and being a part of a team taking turns being on call for building emergencies.Professional demeanor with the ability to handle confrontational situations.An experienced leader with a passion for driving operational excellence in a dynamic environment.Ideal QualificationsBachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent related experienceSpanish fluency Relevant or specialized knowledge Certifications Trade school Physical RequirementsExhibit physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and walk continuously up and down steps to conduct continuous inspection of the facility.Schedule This position is full-time, 35-40 hours per week with an 8AM start time,(subject to change in the case of incidents, emergencies, etc). Flexibility is required and the ability to be “on-call” on weekends and evenings as needed.CompensationThe position is exempt full-time and salaried. It pays $85K-$90K per year and includes full benefits (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, incentive savings plan, paid time off, Public Service Loan Forgiveness, and potential for parental leave for full-time regular employees who have been employed with GrowNYC for 175 days and FSA programs). This position is not union eligible/a part of the bargaining unit.LocationGrowNYC’s Hub is located in the Hunts Point neighborhood in the Bronx. Onsite presence is required daily.
