Overview

The Planning Manager provides managerial and technical expertise for all activities in the Planning, Material Control, Vendor and Work Control groups during normal daily and unit outage periods. The Planning Manager directs these organizations to provide the support and material required for the efficient and economical maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities to maintain steam and electric generating unit reliability.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • The Planning Manager provides managerial and technical expertise for all activities in the Planning, Material Control, Vendor and Work Control groups during normal daily and unit outage periods. The Planning Manager directs these organizations to provide the support and material required for the efficient and economical maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities to maintain steam and electric generating unit reliability.
  • Manages the Stations work management systems, MAXIMO, DataSplice, Engage, etc.
  • Creates weekly and outage work schedules by conducting frequent scheduling meetings with Operations, Maintenance, Technical Services and Engineering.
  • Ensures that all services and material requirements (i.e. purchase requisitions, stock and non-stock items) are established for all scheduled work and outages.
  • Ensures the methodology to complete each planned job is effective and can be accomplished in a timely manner.
  • Oversees the upkeep of the Stations critical spare parts inventory by ensuring sufficient stock level is maintained and available.
  • Analyzes work scope and requirements for all outages with Company Engineering support.
  • Utilizes appropriate computer applications. Maintains the integrity of the systems used through established security practices.
  • Responsible for the preparation, integrity and maintenance of all records within the job scopes. Ensures that all records, including appropriate reference materials are kept current and available.
  • Ensures that costs are minimized through savings in time, material and proper work procedures within the scope of the job.
  • Develops and implements program to maximize Department productivity by utilizing and monitoring performance reports in systems such as Maximo, DataSplice, Engage, etc.
  • Strives to improve morale and productivity of subordinates. Adheres to Company rules and terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Determines appropriate disciplinary action, conducts interviews, participates in settlement of grievances and evaluates subordinates work performance.
  • Communicates both verbally and in writing in a clear, logical manner that is easy to understand. Listens effectively and allows others to express without prejudging.
  • Develops personnel to achieve maximum efficiency and productivity by instructing, motivating, counseling and utilizing appropriate training.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree with 5 10 years experience in a power plant, merchant shipping or related industry in the operation, repair, testing or construction of plant equipment and systems.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Knowledge of material procurement, outage coordination, work control, technical report writing, scheduling, drawing interpretation, purchasing, power plants, maintenance, etc. Required and
  • Strong communication and leadership skills as well as the ability to work as part of a team Required and
  • 3-5 years Supervisory experience with proven skills to motivate people. Preferred and
  • Knowledge of computer software and systems. Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
Physical Demands
  • Must respond to system emergencies
  • Must work at field locations in all weather conditions
  • Must work in an environment that includes heat, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations
  • Must climb ladders and stairs
  • Must work with and in the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems
  • Must be approved and able to wear either a full- or half-face respirator without facial hair or other condition that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations.
  • Must be approved and able to wear a full- or half-face respirator and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), without facial hair or other condition that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations.
  • Must walk, stand, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach
  • Must wear all necessary personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including; fire retardant clothing and safety harness
  • Must work rotating shifts, including nights, midnights, weekends, and holidays
Additional Physical Demands
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.

Minimum Salary: 105000.00 Maximum Salary: 150000.00 Salary Unit: Yearly
