Job Description

The Maintenance Engineer operates within a state-of-the-art Broadcast and Production facility and is responsible for all engineering functions supporting live studio production, live broadcast events, pre and post-production, as well as equipment maintenance and capital planning. Additionally, this person will provide complete professional engineering leadership coordination with the primary Master Control Operations hub. Please note: This position is represented by IBEW Local 1212. If not already a member of Local 1212, the successful applicant will have to join Local 1212 or pay the dues necessary for representation by Local 1212. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Support of Production and Post Production facilities and equipment including Cameras, Production Switchers, Character generators, Audio Mixers, Non Linear edit systems, Intercom System and others;
  • Support of RF Transmission and Broadcast systems;
  • Supervise Live and near Live Studio Production Events;
  • Provide software upgrades and support of Television Production Equipment;
  • Work schedule may include nights and weekends.

Qualified candidate will be a team player that is able to work independently as required. In addition, strong troubleshooting skills, ability to work on concurrent tasks and perform successfully under pressure will be needed. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, adaptable to change in new technologies. Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills will be needed along with the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Additional qualifications include:
  • 5+ years of experience in television engineering and operations including proficiency with Windows Server/Client platforms, high performance storage systems and video encoding/delivery systems;
  • Experience with Evertz server and broadcast automation and play out systems. VistaLINK Pro experience is highly desired;
  • Experience with Interra Systems Baton Automated File-based QC and Telestream Vantage Media Processing Systems;
  • Knowledge of broadcast equipment, such as waveform monitors, VTR's, Video Servers;
  • Knowledge and experience with industry standard video file formats and their manipulation;
  • Experience with digital and tape-based video formats. RF Transmitters and other transmission equipment.

The WNET Group offers competitive salaries, excellent benefits, and a supportive working environment. Salary ranges are based on benchmarked nonprofit and industry related data provided by an outside consulting firm and are commensurate with skills and experience. The hiring compensation range for this position is $43.27 - $48.08 hourly (equivalent to $90,000 - $100,000 annually), with opportunity for overtime. Internal equity considerations will be reviewed before making a final offer.
