Description
Our client, a prestigious international law firm with offices in Manhattan, New York, is seeking a Litigation Associate with 2+ years of experience. The ideal candidate will have expertise in New York Labor Law, specifically Sections 200, 240(1), and 241(6). A strong background in managing complex casualty claims, including construction accident cases and workplace injury litigation, is essential for this role. This position offers an opportunity to work on high-stakes New York Labor Law cases, including Sections 200, 240(1), and 241(6). You'll manage litigation from inception to resolution, providing strategic legal counsel and working alongside senior partners. Key responsibilities include managing complex casualty claims, conducting legal research, drafting motions, negotiating settlements, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and litigate a wide variety of New York Labor Law cases, with a focus on Sections 200, 240(1), and 241(6).
Handle all aspects of litigation from inception to resolution, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, trials, and appeals.
Provide strategic legal advice to clients on labor law, risk management, and casualty claims.
Conduct thorough legal research and draft motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
Collaborate with internal teams and experts to evaluate liability and damages in complex labor law cases.
Negotiate settlements and handle mediations and arbitrations as necessary.
Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing timely and effective communication throughout the litigation process.
Stay current on developments in New York Labor Law and industry-related regulations.
Requirements
Requirements:
2+ years of experience with New York Labor Law (Sections 200, 240(1), and 241(6))
Strong litigation skills including trial and appellate experience
Ability to manage multiple cases in a fast-paced environment
Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
Admission to the New York State Bar
Preferred Experience:
Insurance defense or in-house legal team experience
Familiarity with OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards
