Position Summary
Debt Finance Legal Assistants, with strong Uniform Commercial Code experience, work under the supervision of attorneys in providing legal services to clients. They may also work with other personnel (e.g. other legal assistants, Practice Technology, Global Technology Services, librarians, Professional Support Lawyers, Marketing professionals, practice assistants, copy center, mailroom, etc.) at the Firm in delivering legal services to clients. Debt Finance Legal Assistants will be requested to perform other duties as required.
Duties and Accountabilities
Duties include:
- Coordination of lien search projects and analysis of results
- Review of relevant security or pledge agreements or aircraft mortgages or leases
- Preparation of UCC Financing Statements, Amendments, Assignments, Continuations and Terminations
- Review and audit UCC filings to ensure compliance with jurisdictional requirements
- Coordination of UCC filing projects
- Compile and review UCC filing acknowledgments
- Ensure proper entry of UCC filing data into Firm's UCC Tool database
- Follow up with relevant parties regarding UCC expiration notifications
- Provide training on UCC filing preparation, lien search ordering and use of UCC Tool database
- Assist with UCC seminar presentations
- Manage workflow to ensure deadlines are met
Qualifications
- Four year college degree with a minimum G.P.A. of 3.5
- Strong familiarity of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC)
- Related work experience (3-5 years UCC experience) in a corporate or law firm environment
- Clear and concise writing skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Knowledge of word processing software
- Ability to follow through on projects
- Ability to work under pressure and with a variety of personalities
- Willingness and ability to work overtime and long hours
- Excellent professional references
- Good judgment
- High ethical standards
- Ability to travel as needed
