Dentons US LLP is currently recruiting for a Learning & Development (“L&D”) Specialist who will be based in a Dentons US office location, ideally Atlanta, Chicago or New York. Under the leadership and direction of the Professional Development Director and Professional Development Managers the L&D Specialist will design, plan and implement strategic trainings for business services professionals at Dentons US. The L&D Specialist will collaborate with our HR Business Partners and other key stakeholders. The L&D Specialist will also manage the mentoring program for business services professionals and paraprofessionals. The L&D Specialist will help with special projects as needed.
Responsibilities
Evaluate the output of the business services professionals (“BSPs”) evaluation process and identify key training needs and the most efficient and effective ways to deliver against those needs to support the goals and objectives of the firm.
Design a new training curriculum for business services professionals at Dentons US. Propose and lead new training initiatives (e.g. new manager development series, orientation series for business services professionals). Develop and deliver program content as appropriate. Monitor and evaluate success of training programs implemented.
Working with members of the Dentons US talent team, refine and enhance the performance management process for BSPs to ensure continued relevancy of the competency framework and provision of clear and constructive feedback.
Work closely with the Regional Administrative Directors, Office Administrators and Legal Support Managers to support ongoing development of local office staff and suggest or develop customized training solutions and process improvements as needed.
Partner with HR Business Partners, department heads, managers and leads within Business Services to develop best practices and training strategies based upon assessment of employee development needs.
Design and maintain a portal page (within SharePoint) on the Firm's local portal to showcase the learning and development offering and resources for business services professionals at Dentons US.
Seek and evaluate the services of external consultants and facilitators, and negotiate and administer related agreements, leveraging innovative technologies and eLearning tools wherever possible.
Working with members of the Dentons US talent team, assess current practices for new hire onboarding, staff orientation and off boarding and refine these programs to align with evolving firm needs and legal industry best practices.
Manage the Dentons US Mentoring Program for business services professionals. Design materials to support mentors and mentees. Check-in with pairs regularly to make sure that they are meeting.
Design and create innovative e-Learning modules using Articulate 360.
Manage the Learning Management System as related to BSP learning and development courses.
Develop and manage firm-wide business compliance programs, including harassment awareness, ethics, respect and workplace conduct.
Support lawyer learning and development programs as needed and other special projects.
Other duties as may be assigned.
Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required.
5+ years of progressively responsible professional experience in training, organizational development and/or human resources.
Prior legal industry or professional services experience highly preferred.
Advanced knowledge and experience with Articulate 360 required.
Highly developed presentation, writing and facilitation skills critical; instructional design experience preferred.
Professional demeanor, strong attention to detail, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Must be a proven self-starter, capable of initiating, undertaking and completing projects independently.
Experience with implementing and delivering a varied set of approaches to training within an organization.
Ability to create and leverage an external network of relevant contacts and resources.
Strong experience with and an understanding of performance management/measurement metrics, approaches and processes.
Experience in designing and communicating process and using technology to execute.
Strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); other design and presentation applications (e.g. Articulate 360) helpful.
Highly comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment in which flexibility and resourcefulness are valued.
Salary
New York Only DOE: $80,000 - $105,000
