The Junior Publicist is a vital member of the NY Field Publicity team, helping to execute campaigns for our feature films.  They will work directly with the VP, Eastern Region Publicity & Promotion overseeing regional field agencies and the development and execution of regional activities for all Universal Pictures releases.  The individual in this role will be tasked with pitching and maintaining relationships with select regional press and Field agencies, as well as supporting the Field team.  Exceptional communication and multitasking skills are crucial as is the ability to instinctively prioritize and juggle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary contact for various Field agencies in the Eastern region & Canada

  • Books theaters, recruits audiences, maintains guest lists and oversees screening reps for New York word-of-mouth & promotional screenings

  • Attends all New York word-of-mouth & promotional screenings

  • acts as a studio representative and submits screening reports following each screening

  • Traffics film prints, pre-show content and orders anti-piracy security staff for all Eastern region screenings

  • Compiles field reports for all Eastern region publicity and promotion activities

  • Compiles and distributes daily press breaks

  • Participates in brainstorming sessions to strategize publicity and promotion initiatives for all Universal films

  • Assists VP with press junket invitations, solicits and compiles press reactions, quotes and air/run dates from Eastern region press

  • Works local premieres, press junkets, creative content days, publicity events and Field events on evenings and weekends as needed

  • Provides administrative support to the VP, Eastern Region Publicity & Promotion

  • Researches, pitches, plans and executes all New York costume character appearances

  • Traffics costumes, books performer travel and maintains master calendar for costume appearances throughout the Eastern region

  • helps oversee team intern

  • At least 2 year of experience in the entertainment industry specifically marketing, promotions or publicity         

  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including overtime during the week and on weekends, when necessary

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be willing and able to work screenings, premieres and press junkets

  • Must be willing and able to travel for press junkets, set visits, talent appearances, premieres and conventions

Desired Characteristics:

  • Able to successfully interact with a wide variety of individuals inside and outside of the organization

  • Strong written and communication skills at all levels

  • Excellent computer skills and strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook

  • College degree in marketing or related field

  • Flexibility to maintain ever-changing schedules and itineraries

  • Able to work well under pressure and be flexible in an ever-changing environment

  • Extremely detail-oriented and organized

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

Salary Range: $42.18 - $42.18 as determined by the Local 600 Union
