TITLE: Investment Research - Lead SpecialistEMPLOYER: Mercer Investments, LLCLOCATION: New York, New York (Remote work may be permitted within a commutable distance from the work site)DUTIES: Lead investment manager research on new and existing alternative investment funds across strategy types and asset classes. Serve as a specialist for delegating strategic research focus. Execute qualitative and quantitative analysis of investment strategies, philosophy, and portfolio management capabilities while also planning for the implementation of investment strategies. Responsible for performing highly complex due diligence research pertaining to investment firms that manage hedge fund strategies as well as provide expert due diligence support to other research teams requiring expertise. Manage own coverage list with responsibility to perform in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis, produce formal due diligence reports, propose strategy ratings, and present to the Ratings Review Committee for ratification. Analyze, design, and present highly sophisticated institutional hedge fund investment solutions for major accounts. Research and analyze information about Investment Managers utilizing proprietary databases and tools. Provide input and context for evaluating and selecting Investment Managers who are most capable of generating value for clients. Provide support and contributions with respect to investment policy, performance reporting, attribution analysis, benchmarking, broad capital markets, and specific types of investment management including equity management, fixed income management, and hedge fund management. Make recommendations concerning the capability and suitability of investment strategies for key institutional clients and identify investment management strategies tailored to complex risk profiles. Design sophisticated investment management solutions to address clients’ risk constraints and formulate best in class investment management due diligence, recommendations, and assessments to deliver increased investment value for key clients. Create intellectual capital and strategic research related to hedge funds and alternative portfolios. Present at Mercer’s Global Investment Forums and represent the Diversifying Alternatives Research team to both asset owners and asset managers.REQTS: Must have a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Economics, Accounting, or a related field, plus five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the position offered, or a related occupation. Applicants must have passed at least Level II of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam. Must have five (5) years of experience with all of the following: Working in the Institutional Investment Management or Consulting Industries; Asset allocation modeling and implementation; Performing investment analysis, alternative investment research, and due diligence on investment managers; Conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis of investment strategies including statistical analysis and financial modelling; Utilizing Microsoft excel functions including VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and regression analysis; Utilizing Microsoft PowerPoint functions including graphic creation, animation, and transitions; Creating and delivering recommendations to end users (e.g., clients); Supporting client and business development opportunities; Serving as a mentor to junior team members.
