Cohen Ventures, Inc Dba Energy Solutions Internship - California Commercial Foodservice Intern (Remote - US) in New York, New York

Everyone eats and almost everyone buys some of their food prepared, whether it's fast food, fine dining, prepared foods at the grocery store, or even the grab-and-go case at convenience stores or coffee shops. Commercial kitchen equipment uses a lot of energy, and Energy Solutions is helping save a lot of energy by promoting energy-efficient equipment. As the California Commercial Foodservice Intern, you will help ensure that the benefits of the California commercial foodservice program reach small & independent restaurant operators throughout the state. You will also make sure that new program additions launch successfully and hit their significant savings goals.

In this role, you will work on two research projects. Your work will help advance our goals for two different parts of our program:

  1. In support of our Hard-To-Reach (HTR) and Disadvantaged Customer (DAC) engagement, you will identify and reach out to regional and culturally-specific chambers of commerce and other organizations to look for opportunities to share information about the California Instant Rebates program with small, independent restaurants and foodservice businesses. You will work with other members of the foodservice and marketing teams to customize materials for print and digital newsletters. The goal of the project is to ensure that the energy efficiency and cost-savings benefits of this program successfully reach HTR/DAC customers. The California Foodservice program already partners with several community benefit organizations to share this information through special events; you will help spread the information further through existing trusted communication channels, at negligible cost to Energy Solutions.
  2. In support of our energy efficiency goals (the point of the program!), you will research the market for several of our upcoming new measures: new equipment types. You will identify which of our existing vendors sell those types of equipment and what types of businesses buy it, and help make a game plan for maximizing sales of the new equipment type as soon as it launches.

A day in the life of this role:

  • Establish contact with a list of chambers of commerce by phone and/or email to share information about our program.
    • Ask if they are willing to share the information with their members, and if so, what format.
    • Coordinate with them to develop the materials they need in the format they need.
    • Track the reach/impact of the information.
  • Research the market for new categories of energy efficient commercial foodservice equipment that we are adding to the program.

Due to the scope of this role, you may touch on many special projects to make it a fulfilling experience. Project benefits include:

  • Get hands-on industry experience.
  • Meet a variety of industry professionals and deepen your professional network.
  • Develop key insight on the market.

To enable you for success, we are seeking candidates with these qualifications:
  • Commitment to advancing energy and environmental equity.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team.
  • Experience gathering, tracking, and sorting data.
