The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in supporting HR functions for a renowned Columbia University-based international organization. The Human Resources Generalist (HRG) supports a broad range of HR tasks and transactions that cover the entire employee lifecycle. CG's HR team handles tasks related to talent acquisition, onboarding, employee transactions, records management and retention, employee engagement, payroll administration, training and development, project management and implementation, performance management, HR information systems management, risk reduction, and policy compliance. The HRG will be part of a dynamic team of professionals that ensures CG has an active and vibrant workforce. This position reports to CG's Associate Director of Human Resources and works closely with the Director of HR and Operations. The incumbent in this role will follow a hybrid schedule as determined by the department.

Responsibilities

  • Process HR-related transactions for new and current employees (administrative, academic, student workers, interns, and officers of research) in PeopleSoft, including but not limited to new hires, appointments, re-appointments, and payroll (bi-weekly, monthly, additional compensation, etc.).
  • Support staffing and recruitment processes for all Columbia Global entities including collaborating with the HR team and hiring managers to source candidates, post vacancies internally and externally, and pre-screen candidate applications for required skills and credentials.
  • Support the department's Departmental Time Administrator (DTA) for the Time, Labor, and Absence Management (TLAM) system and provide TLAM training and guidance to managers and staff as needed. Ensure timely and complete submission, send reminders, and follow up on outstanding items.
  • Support the implementation and execution of HR-related projects and work closely with the HR administrative team to help design and plan for HR projects.
  • Perform other assignments, projects, and responsibilities as needed and assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent and at least three years of professional work experience, preferably in an administrative capacity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong and clear understanding of HR principles and practices, including familiarity with employment and labor practices.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Must be detail-oriented and work as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have excellent customer service and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Columbia HRIS systems, PageUp, Interfolio, etc., and external HR platforms such as LinkedIn Recruiter and iCIMS/SkillSurvey, Submittable, and HireRight.
  • Highly proficient in applications within MS Office Suite with the ability to create forms and surveys.
  • Manage databases and generate reports as necessary.
  • Strong ability to maintain confidentiality and use professional discretion with sensitive matters.
