How will you make an impact in this role?

The Technology Business Management (TBM) team powers American Express Tech Strategy by enabling Predictability, Transparency, and Efficiency through best-in-class Tech Business Management capabilities. Within TBM is the Technology Portfolio Management team (TPM) which powers technology, business, and product to achieve business and customer value by optimizing technology investments, elevating transparency and enabling decisioning through trusted insights and best in class portfolio and program management.

Responsible for the identifying best practices and standardization for financial and investment management across Technology Portfolio Management, the Program Manager will report directly to the Vice President, TPM and will work with senior Technology and business leaders.

The successful candidate will have deep investment analytics and financial management experience, relentless attention to detail, executive presentation experience, and the ability to build and leverage positive relationships with the team and partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive and execute the implementation of the strategy and roadmap by identifying best practices, opportunities for standardization, process simplification and governance.

  • Collaborate effectively and build key relationships with enterprise partners and within the Technology Portfolio Management team to identify opportunities to drive strategic roadmaps and adopt new approaches, tools, processes.

  • Prepare and lead executive presentations to highlight critical findings, actionable insights and recommendations.

  • Responsible for educating, building materials, and helping leaders adopt new toolsets and optimize our ways of working across the technologies and portfolio management.

  • Review internal process and ensure effective flow of information and communications within the team and across the organization.

  • Documentation, change management, training and communications.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in, Business Administration, Finance, or another related field

  • 5 years Portfolio or Program Management experience

  • Experience reviewing analytics, and ability to interpret data and drive meaningful insights

  • Experience in financial modeling/analysis; should be able to connect strategy to financial results.

  • Strong communication skills with ability to mediate and influence without authority, advanced or expert PowerPoint and visual presentation skills to clearly communicate, at all levels, in verbal and written form.

  • Experience hosting meetings, creating agendas, maintain clear meeting notes, follow up to ensure others complete their assigned actions..

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA

  • Demonstrated ability to take the initiative to spot problems before they arise, find solutions, and provide timely follow-through.

  • Excellent attention to detail and understanding of the big picture.

  • Experience executing and maintaining high performance under tight timelines.

  • Excellent at building relationships and inspiring others.

  • Experience influencing others and move toward a common vision or goal.

  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations.

  • Organized with a natural inclination for planning strategy and tactics.

  • Problem solving and root cause identification skills.

  • Team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others.

  • Familiarity with project management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle.

  • Experience being able to take the initiative to spot problems before they arise, find solutions, and provide timely follow-through.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually bonus benefits
