Job Description

Overview:

The Director, eCommerce is responsible for leading the success of clients’ eCommerce initiatives by providing thought leadership on strategic approach, building strong relationships, and establishing communication with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders. The Director of eCommerce will manage the strategy and oversee the team for commerce planning, optimization, and reporting of client campaigns. The Director must have a mastery of retail/commerce media as it is today in the marketplace, a deep understanding of retailers within the ecosystem, and be proficient in relevant media platforms.

The ideal candidate must be a thought leader, have strong management skills, and experience working across a diverse portfolio of brands for a major agency client.

Role Objectives:

  • Lead and manage an eCommerce team in the strategic creation, development, and execution of campaigns to meet/exceed expectations within budget and time parameters

  • Develop action plans for achieving and measuring media success, including setting key metrics, measurement and optimization strategies

  • Develops a complete understanding of each client’s goals, markets, needs and expectations

  • Attends client meetings on ongoing basis, interface as needed with executive level and middle management level on client side during meetings and presentations

  • Oversee and help develop the client's strategy and growth relevant retail partner media, including on and off-site display and sponsored product advertising

  • Be the subject matter expert and educate teams and clients of the eCommerce retail environment

  • Assist internal teams within the Commerce practice in growing each client’s business 

  • Lead presentations to both clients and internal teams showcasing campaign strategy and performance results

  • Interfaces with other department leads to share ideas, communicate service offerings, and to identify and deliver new solutions for clients

  • Keeps senior management apprised of key client opportunities, potential risks and other key nuances which affect the health of the business

  • Solves client problems and uses conflict management skills within a professional environment

  • Work with cross-functional client teams to provide insight and recommendations across the brand portfolio

  • Oversee internal team process development and execution management, and assures quality control of all commerce media planning and implementation

  • Coordinate efforts across different relevant digital media channels to drive optimized recommendations and forward strategy to continuously evaluate and improve upon all digital media opportunities

  • Embrace and encourage a culture based on teamwork, collaboration, and intellectual curiosity

  • Positively motivate and manage the internal teams, working collaboratively to create an efficient and success work environment where team members feel empowered with clear growth plans

  • Facilitate the development and documentation of best practices for improving operational efficiencies within the team and the group

  • Advocate the value of eCommerce and help educate clients, partners and internal teams on the latest developments and capabilities in this quickly evolving media channels

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • 7-10+ years of account management experience in online advertising, direct marketing, or ecommerce with increasing levels of responsibility within an agency or media company, including client-facing responsibilities

  • 5+ years of experience in interactive marketing or business consulting using data and information to drive specific targeting and marketing recommendations

  • 5+ years of team management experience

  • Experience of eCommerce media and working within a client with a large portfolio/wide range of brands

  • Experience with key retail media partners (ex: Amazon, Walmart, Kroger, Instacart)

  • Excellent relationship building, diplomacy, and decision-making skills with the ability to think creatively

Additional Information

Compensation Range: $115,500 - $181,500 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. For this role, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
