Director, New Initiatives HSS Research Enterprise

Full-Time

Overview:

The HSS Research Enterprise includes the Basic, Clinical and Applied Research Institutes and scientific programs under the leadership of the Chief Research Officer. The Director will be an integral member of the HSS Research Enterprise and will report to the Chief Research Officer. The Director will support the efforts of the CRO to create a new enterprise infrastructure, to consolidate research across the enterprise, and to develop detailed plans for moving key thematic areas from conception to reality.

Key Responsibilities in support of the Chief Research Officer;

  • Lead the administrative creation of a new research structure for Basic, Clinical and Applied Research through partnership with Research Administration, Human Resources, Finance, Clinical Service Lines, Clinician-Scientists, Scientists and Researchers.

  • Leverage in depth experience of conducting and driving research projects and research programs to scientifically and administratively support the scientific goals and prioritization of the research enterprise.

  • In partnership with Development, lead the administrative creation, support the scientific ideation, and provide oversight for cross-institutional multidisciplinary thematic ‘research’ initiatives that include clear scope, timeline, and resource allocation.

  • Develop and change management and communication strategies to advance the Research Enterprise goals.

  • Develop programs to choreograph navigation and integration into our research enterprise for our clinical research volunteers, clinical residents, fellows, attendings, and clinician-scientists.

  • Develop written material that consolidates and successfully brings to life ongoing impactful research, as well as future research efforts, to be used in a wide variety of settings, including websites, videos, board meetings, in partnership with Development for conversations with donors, and within HSS in collaboration with Marketing and the Education Institute.

  • Build and maintain a strong rapport with research leadership, clinicians, scientists, and researchers, to support the ongoing advancement of the Research Enterprise’s goals

  • Manage multidisciplinary projects by overseeing project timelines and dependencies across the assigned projects, and taking proactive steps to assess delays, develop mitigation strategies, and ensuring escalation to leadership as needed

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • PhD required, with a minimum of 10 years work experience in a research setting

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office including Excel and PowerPoint.

  • A demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and strong critical thinking skills

  • Background in or familiarity with clinical research strongly preferred.

  • Excellent attention to detail, well-organized, and analytical.

  • Pleasant and amicable character, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to develop relationships with a keen sense of emotional intelligence.

  • Ability to model the basic values and principles of Hospital for Special Surgery.

USD $155,000.00/Yr.

Pay Range - Maximum

USD $185,000.00/Yr.
