The New York Post is seeking a strategic, dynamic, and detail-oriented Deputy Managing Editor (M-F, 6am-2pm) to help lead our Digital Production team. This is a pivotal role responsible for steering the digital production workflow across the Post’s network, ensuring top-tier quality, editorial integrity, and maximum audience engagement. If you thrive in a fast-paced newsroom, excel at managing large teams, and have a passion for digital storytelling, this role is for you.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the entire digital production workflow, ensuring editorial standards, best practices, and deadlines are consistently met.

  • Manage and mentor a team of nearly 30 editors and producers, fostering alignment and efficiency across departments.

  • Maintain the integrity of the site while driving daily traffic through strategic homepage management, headline optimization, and photo placement.

  • Collaborate with editorial, SEO, and analytics teams to develop data-driven strategies that boost traffic and audience engagement.

  • Pitch and execute short- and long-term strategies, plan around key events, and ensure adequate staffing for seamless operations.

  • Lead live blog coverage during breaking news events and recurring major stories.

  • Work closely with the graphics and art departments to create visually compelling content that stands out in a competitive media landscape.

  • Represent the Digital Production team in daily strategy meetings, contributing story ideas and helping prioritize newsroom content.

  • Ensure articles are visually engaging with integrated multimedia elements, including photos, videos, and social media embeds.

  • Enhance headlines to maximize reach and impact across platforms.

  • Play an active role in hiring, onboarding, and training digital producers and editors, with a focus on developing expertise in WordPress and other CMS tools.

Requirements:

  • At least 7 years of experience in digital newsroom management, ideally overseeing production workflows in a high-traffic media environment.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop talent.

  • Deep understanding of digital content strategies, SEO, and audience analytics.

  • Expertise in headline writing, homepage curation, and content optimization for diverse platforms.

  • Proficiency with content management systems (WordPress preferred) and digital publishing tools.

  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience working cross-functionally with editorial, design, SEO, and analytics teams.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate strategies and decisions clearly.

  • A digital-first mindset with a passion for innovative storytelling and media trends.

Note: The New York Post adheres to a hybrid work model. This role will be expected to report into the office 4 days per week (subject to change depending on business needs).

Pay Range: $100,000 - $125,000
