Job Description

Major Responsibilities
Under supervision, with wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment, assist the Chief of Administrative Services with the planning and coordination of human resources activities for the borough of Staten Island.
Draft job vacancy notices and provide support for the scheduling and coordination of panel interviews.
Assist with the hiring of seasonal employees. Work closely with managers to ensure employees are hired and deployed as needed. Schedule appointments for candidates to complete pre-employment forms and review content of forms.
Track borough personnel changes and monitor district headcount changes.
Provide administrative support for the Parks Opportunity Program (POP).
Train and supervise staff in completing tasks.
Serve as a liaison to other divisions including, Human Resources, Payroll & Timekeeping, Benefits, Labor Relations, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) and Telecommunications. Assist with resolving City Time issues.
Provide support for the coordination of compliance with mandatory trainings and communication of announcements, opportunities, and employee recognition requests and events to Borough Staff.
Assist with coordination of employee wellness initiatives and blood drives. Encourage maximum participation and support from colleagues and employees.
Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, perform filing and oversee records retention.
Directly assist Chief of Administrative Services with all administrative duties. Perform other duties as needed to support borough operations as assigned by Chief of Administrative Services.
Supervise the office in Chief’s absence.

Qualifications
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
