Citigroup Data Owner Sr Group Manager - C15 in New York, New York

The Data Owner Sr. Group Manager is a senior level professional role accountable for Data for a product, function, process, or country, ensuring that is compliant to Regulations, Laws, and Citi Policies, Standards & Procedures to reduce and manage Citi’s data risk. The Data Owner Sr Group Manager is responsible for the Data Strategy, architecture Target State, and developing the implementation data delivery roadmap for Authoritative Data Sources. They are responsible for influencing Senior Leaders in the business to develop data as a product and strategic asset. Through collaboration with Chief Data Office teams, Technology, and business stakeholders, provide data consumers across the organization’s businesses and functions with Certified Data that is fit for purpose and meets their requirements. The Data Owner will serve as a thought leader in their space.

This role requires collaboration across teams of internal data governance stakeholders (including Senior Data Managers, Data Risk & Control, Data Quality/Analytics & Reporting, Master & Reference Data Strategist, Data Tech, etc.) and business/function stakeholders who are tasked with implementing adequate data governance, promoting “data as an asset”, and driving culture change to make the organization increasingly data informed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of senior professional data owners to deliver data solutions.

  • Contribute to decisions on issues/activities that have critical impact or influence on company revenues, capital, or business operations.

  • Challenge teams’ plan to identify roadblocks, and dependencies.

  • Lead efforts to identify end-to-end data flow, including all upstream areas that create and/or consume Authoritative Data Sources to ensure they adopt new policy/standards, data models, and appropriate infrastructure.

  • Lead engagement with senior stakeholders across lines of business and functions to ensure development & execution of suitable tools which enable efficient execution of required operating models.

  • Create effective presentations suitable for all audience types, including the Citigroup Board, Executive Management Team, and partners.

  • Develop medium to long-term plans and execute functional strategies for a large/complex country, cluster of countries, or business requiring coordination and integration across units.

  • Partner with relevant stakeholders to align key data capabilities including metadata repositories, data dictionaries, data lineage, business process maps, and training materials with the data and system process flows.

  • Prioritize Data Concerns, including dispositioning and monitoring fixes (Data defects, Data issues). Report Data Quality issues through Citi’s corresponding Data/Issue management process. Develop appropriate metrics and key performance indicators associated with data quality and controls; and define and institute sustainable processes to produce them on regular cadence.

  • Ensure sound program / project management for entire Data portfolio (in partnership with Program Management Office), including ensuring clear deliverables and timelines are defined accurately, there is timely identification of risk/risk management established, internal sponsors / clients / beneficiaries are accurately assessed and engaged, and a process that ensures accurate milestone reporting and changes is instituted.

  • Manage and monitor metrics and Key Performance Indicators associated with Data Quality and Controls;Controls.

  • Responsible for remediation of Data Concerns, including dispositioning and monitoring fixes (Data defects, Data issues, etc.).

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable rules, laws, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgement regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience, including 8-10+ years' managerial experience.

  • Experience in defining and implementing data management, data capabilities, analytics and information management supporting operational processes.

  • Strategic mindset, who can see ahead to future possibilities and translate them into breakthrough strategies.

  • Understand all aspects of Data Management, including Data Lineage, Metadata, Data Quality, Data Remediation, and Issue Management.

  • Communicates effectively, develops and delivers multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences; able to drive consensus, and influence relationships at all levels.

  • Can effectively lead change in an organization with Citigroup’s size, scale and complexity; experience leveraging the processes and principles of change management to drive organizational change, defining change criteria, providing support and education, managing resistance, and measuring outcomes.

  • Manages through ambiguity by making sense of complex, high quantity and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.

  • Promotes a culture of collaboration and teamwork across organizations; and demonstrates effective work relationships with business/function colleagues.

  • Experience creating and being a champion for a positive risk culture that supports sustainable business growth through transparent engagement, a partnership approach, and a no-tolerance approach for behavior that exposes the organization to risk outside its limits.
