The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

We have an open position for a Master-level Data Analyst, focused on developing and applying statistical and data science methods to environmental and climate-related health research. The successful candidate will be jointly advised by Drs. Kiros Berhane (Professor and Chair of the Department of Biostatistics), Robbie Parks (Assistant Professor of Environmental Health Sciences), Xiao Wu (Assistant Professor of Biostatistics), and work closely with other quantitative students in our groups.

Responsibilities

  • Developing innovative statistical and data science methods and software tools for analyzing large-scale complex observational data 30%
  • Producing health-relevant climate and weather datasets 30%
  • Applying these methods and software tools to climate and health data derived from collaborative projects and administrative databases (e.g., Medicare claims) to understand impacts of climate related exposures on health, informing policy changes 30%
  • Other duties as assigned 10%

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of data analytic and statistical analysis experience. Advanced education/degree may substitute for experience.
  • Experience with R or Python.
  • Familiarity with basic Linux command line.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Computational and Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in causal inference, analysis of correlated and longitudinal data, data-driven decision-making, and statistical software development.
  • Interest in climate science and environmental health applications is a plus.
