Head of Communica ti ons for New York Life Investment Management

New York Life’s Corporate Communications department is seeking an experienced communications professional to serve as the communications lead for New York Life Investment Management (NYLIM), the $370 billion asset management business of New York Life. In this role, you will demonstrate your successful track record of developing and executing external and internal communications strategies positioned to advance NYLIM’s business objectives. You will create and execute a comprehensive strategic communications plan that will enhance the reputation and visibility of NYLIM and its leaders, and drive employee engagement with and support for the business. The ideal candidate for this role is results-oriented with a strong service orientation and has significant experience as a trusted advisor working directly with executive leaders.

As the senior communications business partner for the business, you will:

  • Build trust and confidence with the CEO of NYLIM and NYLIM’s executive leadership team through informed communications advice and counsel

  • Create and execute strategic communications initiatives that fully align and support business goals and objectives, including advancing and protecting the reputation of NYLIM and driving engagement with our global employee population

  • Craft consistent and compelling messaging and storytelling through speeches, presentations, and correspondence for CEO

  • Develop communications strategies that use a wide-range of channels, including through earned, owned, paid, and social media and in-person and virtual meetings, conferences, panels, and events

  • Implement communications best practices, including new tools and solutions, to spotlight the investment leadership and expertise across the business and galvanize support for the CEO’s vision and goals with a highly engaged workforce

  • Collaborate closely with internal and external communications colleagues on executing communications strategies, campaigns, and initiatives

  • Measure results on a regular basis and use data to continuously improve internal and external communications efforts

  • Partner with business and corporate partners across the New York Life enterprise to ensure alignment with enterprise positioning, priorities, and practices

Minimum required qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree

  • 12+ years of external and internal communications experience

  • Extensive experience in investment/asset management or financial services industries preferred

  • Skilled in building trusted advisory relationships with senior executives and their teams, strong partnerships across the organization, and managing outside partners/ agencies/vendors

  • Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to translate complex investment concepts, tools, and platforms into language and messaging that resonates with all audiences

  • Demonstrated experience creating content across a variety of internal and external communications channels

  • Strong understanding of measurement and reporting of results across all communications channels

  • Speechwriting experience working with executives to capture their voice and create an effective messaging platform for them

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities to tight deadlines

  • Ability to interact with and influence all levels of employees across an organization

  • Collaborative team player with experience leading cross-functional projects
