Communication Broadcast & Multimedia Production Manager (HEA)
POSITION DETAILS
The division seeks a Communication Broadcast & Multimedia Production Manager (HEA) for the FCC-licensed radio station owned by the City College of New York, CUNY. The Communication Broadcast & Multimedia Production Manager (HEA) has direct responsibility for the day-to-day management of WHCR 90.3FM, a station in operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays, serving CCNY and the local community. Responsibilities include the following:
Ensure the station's compliance with all applicable rules and regulations of the Federal Communications Commission
Manage support staff of seventy-five including part time employees, on-air volunteer personalities, and work study students for the operation of the radio station
Develop, maintain, and oversee content for the WHCR website
Create a positive on-air image by providing informative, educational, and cultural programming for WHCR that considers the diverse demographics of the station's audience while at the same time attempting to increase that audience
Supervise the creation of new shows, show promotions, public service announcements and community calendars
Oversee the production and scheduling of music and talk programs transmitted on-air; coordinate remote broadcasts including college games, local sports, community arts, and entertainment events
Secure external funding through fundraising activities and handle all station financial activities including budgeting and financial planning
Foster and build positive business relations with the local community organizations and businesses
Oversee the procurement and maintenance of studio equipment inventory, as well as training personnel in its use
Other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree and six years’ related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Four years of management experience in print journalism, broadcast journalism or a related field, along with demonstrated experience in managing a large and diverse workforce
Familiarity with the Harlem community's institutions, businesses, and community groups and knowledge of the CUNY system Demonstrated knowledge, abilities and skills in:
Knowledge of radio programming requirements and radio station operations and procedures
Knowledge of communication procedures and federal rules and regulations relating to radio broadcasting
Proven ability to develop and evaluate on-air radio programs
Ability to coordinate the use of computer audio automation systems
Ability to supervise the work of subordinate employees in a radio station operation
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Manages pre-production, production, and post-production of television, radio, video, and film programming.
Manages one or more aspects of a film, television, or radio facility
Recruits, trains, schedules, and supervises full-time and part-time employees including student interns
Works with internal and external clientele to identify needs and help them plan broadcast activities; provides a high level of customer service
Makes digital media available to web production personnel and others as needed to support academic programs
Develops and produces broadcast programs, independently or with students, internal College departments, or external entities
Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary Range: $82,928 - $100,329. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
