We’re looking for a C++ Graphics Engineer to join the Snap Map team!

What you’ll do

  • Contribute to the rendering engine powering Snap Map, the best way to see where your friends are, find things to do together, and explore the world

  • Make the map more playful and visually vibrant with new 2D, 3D, and animation-focused rendering techniques and game-like effects

  • Collaborate with fellow engineers, designers, and product managers to design, prototype, and ship new product features

  • Create UI and scripting-based tools to empower designers and other developers

  • Balance performance and visual quality, with implementations that adapt from high to low-end devices

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of 2D and 3D graphics fundamentals, engine architecture, and the software/hardware rendering pipeline

  • Proficiency coding in modern C++ (C++ 14/17/20)

  • Comfortable with high levels of ambiguity and iterative design

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to detail

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/BA in a technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of experience

  • 3+ years of software development experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with rendering APIs (OpenGL, Metal, Vulkan, or DirectX) and shaders (GLSL, MSL, HLSL, compute)

  • Experience creating/extending rendering/game engines and custom scripting/DSLs

  • Experience with cross-platform C++ development, especially for mobile devices

  • Experience optimizing for mobile GPUs and low-level, multi-threaded debugging

  • Experience developing web-based tooling (TypeScript, WebSockets) with an eye for UX

  • Familiarity with geospatial and/or AR techniques for rendering/modeling city environments

  • Familiarity with game camera and animation systems

  • Experience with modern build systems (Bazel, CMake)

  • Experience with observability, data-driven A/B testing, supporting real-time client/server systems in production

  • Enjoy participating in the product design process, beyond technical implementation

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC) (https://careers.snap.com/us-payzones) :

The base salary range for this position is $152,000-$228,000 annually.

Zone B (https://careers.snap.com/us-payzones) :

The base salary range for this position is $144,000-$217,000 annually.

Zone C (https://careers.snap.com/us-payzones) :

The base salary range for this position is $129,000-$194,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
