Simon & Schuster, a leading global publisher and KKR portfolio company , is seeking a highly motivated and analytical Business and Corporate Development Analyst. In this dynamic role, you will play a key part in identifying, evaluating, and executing the company’s strategic growth initiatives, including mergers & acquisitions (M&A), strategic partnerships, investments, and other business development opportunities. This is a unique opportunity to work for the leading global independent publishing group and to gain exposure to one of the world’s premier private equity firms.

About You:

  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in investment banking, strategy, corporate finance, corporate development, corporate business development, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of financial modeling, valuation methodologies, deal structuring, competitive and industry analysis, and transaction execution (both M&A and commercial).

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field. (An MBA is a plus, but not required.)

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Excellent PowerPoint skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and financial modeling tools (e.g., MOIC, IRR, DCF).

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct market research and identify potential acquisition targets, strategic partnerships, and other growth opportunities that align with Simon & Schuster's strategic objectives within the global publishing landscape.

  • Analyze financial data, build valuation models, and prepare detailed presentations and investment memorandums (IMs) to support deal evaluation for M&A and other business development initiatives.

  • Assist with due diligence processes, including managing diligence workstreams and document exchange relevant to the transaction/opportunity type.

  • Help assess adjacent and emerging market areas such as AI, podcasting, and international audio markets.

  • Manage deal timelines and trackers, prepare presentations, and communicate effectively with deal teams and senior management at Simon & Schuster and KKR.

  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and market dynamics within the global publishing landscape, with a focus on potential growth opportunities.

Bonus Points:

  • Knowledge of the global publishing sector and its sub-segments (e.g., trade publishing, educational publishing).

  • Experience with data analysis tools relevant to the publishing industry (e.g., Nielsen BookScan).

  • Understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks relevant to the global publishing industry and M&A/commercial transactions.

  • Experience working with private equity firms.

  • Experience negotiating commercial contracts.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
