Position Summary
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain their building Emergency Evacuation and Operations Plan (EEOP).
- Coordinate with building/department administrators responsible for employee, student, and visitor health and safety.
- Assign evacuation wardens (and alternates) for all areas of the building and insure that they know what their duties are in case of an evacuation. Evacuation warden orientation is required when there are changes of personnel.
- Assure classroom instructors inform students about emergency procedures, exits routes, and assembly points on the first day of class.
- Schedule "Evacuation Warden Training" for assigned personnel.
- Schedule, conduct, and record fire drills as required by the NYC Fire Code.
- Review the emergency plan at least annually and confirm that it is current.
Minimum Qualifications
- Incumbent should have a Bachelor degree and four years of experience in facilities management and fire safety or the equivalent of education and experience. Candidate must have a strong working knowledge of building systems and be able to obtain a fire safety director license for the buildings being managed. Strong communications and inter-personal skills; demonstrate basic writing and computer skills. - Demonstrated abilities and knowledge regarding a high level of independence and collaboration in the performance of responsibilities and strong analytical and reasoning skills are required, also, the abilities required to effectively work in a fast paced, multi-building, service oriented environment and establish/maintain relationships with diverse constituencies within an academiccommunity are critical. Must have above average understanding and skills related to PC-based hardware and software related to facilities management is essential - Microsoft Office, work order, energy management software, etc. Candidate must have a working knowledge of construction, architectural and engineering plans and specifications and building, fire, safety and environmental codes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Applicants with a Bachelor's degree in engineering and five to ten years of experience in facilities management and fire safety are highly desirable.Recent experience in an educational, health care, or similar institution preferred.
