Meta Associate General Counsel, Privacy in New York, New York

Summary:

This role is product-focused and will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to build products with a privacy-forward design. This will involve learning about new and modified features for products across Meta's family of apps, identifying and investigating key design elements, coordinating with subject matter experts and regional counsel, and providing practical, actionable advice under global privacy laws.

Required Skills:

Associate General Counsel, Privacy Responsibilities:

  1. Drive high-profile and high-impact projects involving privacy analysis with cross-functional stakeholders across Meta’s family of apps

  2. Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in areas of data privacy and protection laws (including state and federal consumer protection and privacy laws, GDPR, and other global privacy laws)

  3. Work closely with product counsel and product teams to guide privacy-forward product development and evaluate the impact of privacy laws, regulatory guidance and enforcement actions

  4. Develop regulatory strategy with global privacy regulators in connection with new product features and initiatives and maintain Meta’s ongoing privacy-by-design processes

  5. Participate in internal privacy compliance programs and processes to ensure we meet our obligations under those programs

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar

  2. 8 + years of experience at a law firm, government, or in-house as a practicing attorney

  3. Experience with global privacy laws, regulations, and industry guidelines, especially including those relevant for social media, internet and technology companies

  4. Experience advising on privacy legal risks and mitigations

  5. Experience working on multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment

  6. Proven business judgment and client counseling experience

  7. Proven problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills

  8. Experience making decisions in the face of ambiguity and evolving priorities

  2. Experience with global privacy laws, regulations, and industry guidelines, especially those relevant for social media and Internet companies

  3. In-house experience with applicable product counseling, compliance, litigation, or regulatory teams

  4. Excellent communication skills

  5. Business judgment and practical counseling skills

Public Compensation:

$198,000/year to $266,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
