Description

The Associate Counsel will be part of a legal team responsible for providing privacy and cybersecurity legal advice and support to Brands and corporate functions within The Estée Lauder Companies.

• Draft, negotiate and review complex privacy and cybersecurity contractual provisions with third party vendors, including data transfer agreements.

• Manage, inventory and analyze new US privacy laws as they are enacted.

• Help advise on (1) the collection of personal data through online engagement and digital tracking technologies (e.g., cookies, pixels, web beacons) and the use of such personal data in programmatic omni-channel targeted marketing campaigns; and (2) consumer data matching and data licensing for consumer insights projects.

• Assist with drafting privacy and information security policies, procedures, notices and consents for compliance with privacy and security laws.

• Work closely with the Global Privacy Office on compliance, employee training, and other awareness programs and initiatives.

• Coordinate with outside counsel and regional colleagues in international markets to advise clients on privacy and security matters.

• Assist with cybersecurity and data breach incident response.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education level: Law degree

• Minimum Years of Experience: 3 - 5 years

• Required Language Proficiency: English

Licenses or Certifications: Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US).

• Additional Job Specifications (e.g., physical demands, working conditions, equipment/machinery, specific skills, etc.).

• Strong experience advising on privacy and data security matters.

• Ability to work well under pressure, with excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to prioritize workload and adapt to changing conditions.

• Experience within the cosmetics, retail or consumer products industry, not required but desirable.

• Position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

• Member of the New York State Bar or of Bar in state of residence.

In-house experience preferred.

• Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US).

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,550 to $208,200. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results as well as participation in the share incentive plan.
