Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Nurse Manager.In this role, the successful candidate under the direction of the Site Director and FGP Clinical Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager oversees the daily clinical operations of a designated department. This includes hiring, onboarding, and managing clinical staff, handling patient interactions, and ensuring adherence to Faculty Group Practice policies and procedures. The Assistant Nurse Manager collaborates with practice leadership to implement operational initiatives.
Additionally, the Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for patient care, focusing on decision-making within the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, identification of expected outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation. In this role, the Assistant Nurse Manager provides competent, safe, and compassionate care by upholding NYULH Patient Care and Nursing Standards. As part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, the Assistant Nurse Manager works with providers and other clinical team members to develop and implement a comprehensive, patient-centered care plan to achieve expected outcomes.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Effectively interacts with providers, patients, and family to resolve concerns related to the delivery of healthcare services.
    • Promotes satisfaction of internal and external customers through effective communications and ease of workflows, while partnering with Supervisors and Management.
    • Establish clinical workflows most appropriate for practice.
    • Collects, analyzes and uses data to drive practice changes that integrate quality, safety, patient experience and productivity metrics for excellent patient and nursing outcomes.
    • Promotes patient, physician, and other consumer satisfaction by facilitating excellent customer service by all members of the healthcare team.
    • In collaboration with practice leadership interviews, hires, develops, guides, counsels, and disciplines clinical staff consistent with principles of caring, fair, and professional work environment.
    • Identifies, investigates and proactively responds to potential and actual risk management issues per standards and institutional policies.
    • Assures compliance with standards and regulations promulgated by all applicable agencies.
    • Facilitates an environment conducive to creativity in practice, shared decision making, and collaboration with all members of the healthcare team.
    • Participates in interdisciplinary and Partnering for Quality Improvement programs.
    • Develops and implements action plans in response to internal and external benchmarking data, problems, findings, issues, incidents, and complaints.
    • Continuously creates and initiates quality improvement programs and initiatives.
    • Collaborates with NYU Infection Control to uphold infection protocols and standards.
    • Performs all Annual and Midyear competencies for clinical staff and provides input for the evaluations of staff as appropriate.
    • Works closely with the practice leadership to ensure all practice goals are met and all policies are followed.
    • Partners with Office Management and Physicians to ensure adherence to all regulatory and HIPPA guidelines.
    • Prioritizes office needs, training staff and allocating staff based on skills and ability to meet objectives.
    • Resolves complaints and problems using independent judgement and decision making skills, to ensure patient satisfaction and adheres to faculty group practice standard.
    • Provide clinical supervision of RNs, MAs and Phlebotomists, ensuring all competencies and clinical responsibilities are met.
    • Train all new or transitioning nurses for all procedures and operational workflows including but not limited to endoscopy, stress testing, UVB and PDT light therapy, colposcopy, hysteroscopy and nursing triage.
    • Maintains and makes changes to the nursing schedule weekly to ensure proper coverage for all areas in the practice.
    • Oversees the coordination, integration, communication, implementation and performance evaluation of practice and clinical operations, and policies and procedures. Identifies areas for improvement and develops detailed action plans as necessary.
    • Optimizes patient flow and patient access.
    • Supports key initiatives related to MIPS, gaps in care and other clinical quality programs.
    • Ensures clinical in-baskets are maintained and open encounters are closed within a timely manner.
    • Works with FGP Clinical Leadership to enforce policies and procedures.
    • Ensures clinical compliance with Patient Safety initiatives and reporting.
      Partners with Nurse Manager to ensure AAAASF annual accreditation is met where applicable.
    • Supports FGP Clinical Quality Management by maintaining appropriate documentation of practice licensures.
    • Works with FGP Clinical leadership to ensure all requirements are met for accreditations and certifications.

Clinical Support

    • Participates in Monthly MIPS championship calls, and Nursing leadership calls and brings all relevant information back to the clinical team for implementation.
    • Provide oversight of the Medical Assistant Supervisors and high level oversight of all Medical Assistants and Phlebotomists to ensure clinical safety and competency.
    • Works in conjunction with the MA Supervisors to regularly review the MA to provider ratio and ensure staffing levels are appropriate for patient volume.
    • Collaborates with MA Leadership to understand, troubleshoot, report and improve all lab delays and errors.
    • Serves as main contact for all clinical emergencies within the facility.
    • Serves as an escalation contact for all call center red flag words and clinical calls.
    • Ensure that all clinical staff are advised of any new medical procedures or policies.
    • Orchestrates regular training exercises and drills for clinical codes and emergencies.
    • Responsible for ensuring all medications and clinical equipment are stocked and ordered regularly.
    • Responsible for monitoring the vaccine and anesthesia drug supply; including ordering, ensuring proper storage, and reviewing out dates.
    • Implement and monitor compliance to regulatory guidelines and take corrective actions where appropriate. Oversee all QI and QA activities related to Point of Care Testing.
    • Ensures Providers and Nurses are up to date on their ACLS and BLS certifications as needed.
    • Oversees the creation of Occurrence reports and PSIs.
    • Serves as a main contact for AAAASF certification, and ensures all clinical staff working in procedure area up to date with all standards.
    • Plays an active role in monitoring and assisting physicians with in-baskets, including pairing RNs with Providers based on their need weekly.
    • Monitors clinical in-baskets on a daily basis to ensure all are addressed before close of business each day.
    • Stays up to date with and communicates all infection control guidelines and new clinical workflows.

Staff Engagement

    • Mentors staff, and actively promotes the development of operational/financial performance improvement skills across teams.
    • Completes staff competency assessments and performance evaluations providing feedback, identifying training needs, and pathways for employee continued career success.
    • Conducts routine staff meetings and huddles to promote staff communication and feedback.
    • Supports employee participation in FGP corporate meetings/WebEx to stay aligned with larger network updates and training as appropriate.
    • Develops staff related initiatives to show gratitude towards their efforts to support the NYU Patient Experience model.
    • Promotes employee engagement activities within the practice, engaging feedback from support staff and leaders internally. Works collaboratively with colleagues and site management to ensure a positive experience and timely resolution for all patient interactions and inquiries whether in person, by phone or via electronic messaging.
    • Partners with Patient Access Center and Central Billing Office team members to support collaboration and promote a positive patient experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a current Registered Professional Nurse in New York. Education: Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required.
Competence: At least three years of clinical practice in the care of the patient population served; ability to apply nursing process toward achievement of specific outcomes in an organized fashion which addresses patient/family satisfaction. Progressive leadership; demonstrated in a leadership position or demonstrates the potential for leadership competency; demonstrates ability to develop, guide, motivate, nurture, and coach others; participation in service or departmental committees. Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and creative problem solving. Ability to complete multiple tasks efficiently and thrive in a team work environment which pursues a positive patient care experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Nursing or health-related area preferred. Membership in pertinent professional organizations.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $110,000.00 - $173,408.07 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
